1. I am configuring a new DS rig and was wondering what is the best gaming monitor (24" or bigger) available today - Make and Model? (Want to run at least 1900x1200 res at a minimum)

2. Also looking for what people recommend for a gaming mouse and keyboard?

Let me know...thx for the help!

You really can't go wrong with Logitechs G9x or G500.  Look for a deal on either.

Keyboards are tougher because it depends on what you want to use it for and your preferences (backlight options, keystroke feel, hand position, hand rest, etc...)  I have two, logitechs G15 and I love it (the G19 is out but ooooh boy its expensive)....and my son uses the Wolfking Warrior xxtreme.  He loves it, I hate it.  Just take a look at it and you will see why.  Now I must admit, he is fast, and I mean blazingly fast with that thing.  But if you are used to conventional keyboards it probably would take alot of getting used to.

It could be the old school in me is just unwilling to let go Ouch

If you have a Fry's or similair electronic store near you, go and test out a bunch of keyboards on display.  Take your top three "feel good" boards and then look at the reviews.  That should get you what you need.

Other people here are much better at the monitor stuff than I am.  I am a viewsonic fan and pretty biased, although I am going to try Samsung this time for 3D.  Shocked   I have a 46" samsung at home and love it, so I will give them a go.

what price range for a monitor?
Best? I don't know if there is a such thing, all of them have their pros and cons for under $1500 I would choose this one  http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Monitors/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=222-7175
if your budget is bigger than that, then go for multiple ones of the above monitor.

i  2nd the g9x as well.  i have the id grip and love it.  Mouse so much depends on how you hold it though.  The g9x has the best/least lift off distance in  a mouse IMHO.

i have to disagree on choice of mouse.... the best mouse out is a razer mamba downside it is like $129...

the fastest mouse on the market ( 1ms from click to response)
the most precise mouse on the market (5600 dpi)
also it is wireless/wired
customizable speed settings
macros too
its wireless is just as fast as wired (revolutionary)
i love it wont buy anything else
can move cursor 200in/sec with 9 customizable speed settings i use speed 6
i currently own this product so ask ? if ur interested
14 hr batt life (i feel it is more like 12)
other downside somethign switching from wireless to wired and visa versa can be annoying b/c of the unlock on the wire on the mouse.

check it out at www.razerzone.com they make more then mice as well... headsets keyboards sound cards you name it
here is a direct link to their mice http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/

you can also pick them up at your local electronics store

keyboard i don't like the way the g19 feels i am partial to the g15 although i don't liek the backlight color

I have 2 of these.. best monitors I know of for the price/size. 26"

Mouse, I love the Deathadder I have tried most mice out there, and for my hand, I love the deathadder. I have the steelseries glass mouse pads, they go great with the mice.
Keyboards, I like the Saitek III, have 3 and one Saitek I, and one steelseries, now most of the other keyboards I have are in a pile, collecting dust.
Many people love logitech stuff, but I have bought most of there mice/keyboards, and a few sound products, and they have all been steaming piles of crap, in my opinion.

does bestbuy carry that the saitek III? i like the saitek II but never got around to buying it

i agree that logiteck doesn't make the best stuff... i have had the the g5 waste of money and g 9 bigger waste of money. i also have their 2.1 system oh it is great for bang... but has no clarity!

upside it is almost impossible to blow that sub-woofer! believe me i tried

i have blown 2 eclipse 10' in x series 1 kicker L5 10 in 1 MTX 4500 10 in in my car with less stress well maybe not i am running 1000 watts out of 3000 watt peak. with a decible range of 93 db thats louder then a bowing 747

finally got the damn thing to stop blowing subs lol i am still on my third eclipse 10 in x series after over a year what a record for me!

I got the Razer Naga but I'm weird like that.  hehe

I only tested it once so far, on a friend's laptop during a lan party.   My current comp has no spare USB ports and my DS rig is in the mail.

I like my Samsung SyncMaster 2343bwx. It has a native res of 2048X1152 I will enjoy it even more when I get my DS system hopefully by Friday. Its in Stage 5 atm.Ermm
I would like to get the G19 KB and not so sure yet on Mouse... Logitech has always been good to me so probably Logitechs G9x or G500.
There will ALWAYS be room for upgrades.

Now in stage 6 myself...whoohoo! Ouch

Damon, if your still reading, make sure to test em out.  As you see there are lots of differences.  What you might like the looks of, may not be for you.  I would love to use the mamba but it feels awkward at the base of my palm and the thumb buttons are thus awkward to depress.  Design feel for your hands on a mouse, like a keyboard, is everything.

If you do go the G9 route get the G9x laser, its a much more improved version with sturdy swappable grips, LED, dpi, etc....

@Raif...the G9x laser is rated at 5700dpi and comes in just a fraction behind the mamba for response.  Still, I envy you, I would rather the mamba...its just dam cool lookin. Confused

I own both the Razer Deathadder and the Logitech G9x.  Both are well made enough but it comes down to how they feel in your hand.  I've tried the Lachesis and G500 as well.

For me the Deathadder was difficult to pick up keeping the same hand position as i am a person that uses very little surface and picks up the mouse a lot.  The G9x allows me to do this better.  The DA is comfortable though.

Lachesis actually hurt my wrist because i am just not a claw grip guy.

With all that I'm just trying to say it's just how you use your mouse and how it fits to your hand.  I think build quality is pretty much the same.

Biggest difference between the logitechs and razer is the razer mice are noticable lighter in weight.  Also, I like logitechs software a little better but Razers isn't bad or anything.

Anyone use the Razer Imperator yet?  Thats one I think the OP should look into as well.

Hey Justin...on that steelseries glass mousepad...

Those look awesome.  How is the feel vs a rubber?  Do you have to use a pad at the edge for your wrist or is it rounded nicely?

Dammit...now I wanna try one of those bad boys! Confused

Buying a mouse is like buying a pair of shoes. Sure its sleek, looks nice and even has a bulit in phone like agent 99, but oh darn, doesnt fit quite right. In other words, you need to try em out before you buy. (I.E) Go to best buy or other stores that have them on display)

Keyboard: I just upgraded from a 10 dollar microsoft plain ol keyboard to the logitech g15 and my fingers smile and thank me for it. I love to use macros as well so this suits me perfectly.

Justin: Throw a link to that mouse pad. I am in the market for one myself but theres 50 different ones. I play mostly FPS and rts.
