I thought this was a pretty good article and review of the current assortment of video cards.

The price point comparisons seem a bit unusual.

Screw price vs performance, just get a couple 280s and maybe a 3rd if you got the money and PS. =D! You only live once, id like to die with 0 dollars left.

Ive never seen an armored car following a hearse. But on the topic, I think alot depends on your build, had I went with an Nvidia motherboard I'de have gotten a gtx 280, since I went with an intel I went with 2 HD4870's for the same price. So many different factors involved in video cards. Theres some people that if one company made the best card ever they would stay with there loyal brand and tell everyone it was the best card ever. Others flip back and forth on simply the numbers, be they price or firepower. Me it was a longevity thing, it simply made more sense to go with ATI considering my build spec even though Ive always use Nvidia.

Numbers really cant tell the whole story on some things just too many variables. Get a good card and ride it out, not to much in that article could be called a crappy card and "best" is in the beholders point of view.
