Topic: Best Paid Anti Virus Posted: 03 Mar 2013 at 6:15am |
Just wanted to get and undated response as the best paid anitvirus to get.... I currently us AVAST free edition and it has been very good, and I like it better than Microsoft security essentials. I have a laptop and its only going to be used a home office computer, it going to used for paying bills, banking and other sensitve information stuff. My choices as of right now are
Avast Premier Bit Defender Eset Smart Security 6 If there are other ones that i havent listed above, let me know. I want something that is NOT going to take a lot of resources to run, and I hate anoying pop up for adding on stuff after you buy it... Norton did that during gaming and drove me nuts.

DST4ME and a few others recommend ESET Smart Security.

Forget interface, first security then rest, ESET is what you want, light, fast and very good with a very long track record.
MSE has some issues in certain areas, plus this came out last month, well 2 motnhs ago: Edited by DST4ME - 03 Mar 2013 at 10:48am |

Norton is ok, in the old days it was very heavy, few years ago it got light, I still prefer eset.

I read that on MaximumPC and even though it failed by the German Firm it still works good for me. I've bought paid versions of Avira and PcTools and both was a waste of money and any virus or trojan that my old pc got from both of them MSE got rid of it.
But hey its a personal choice so its all good. I may one of these days decide to try ESET Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 03 Mar 2013 at 11:29am |

Well if an AV is failing to pickup viruses, then its not good, I mean if you are ok with it that is a personal choice but whether its a good av or not is dependent on what it can do and in this case mse failed.
Tho I don't put a lot of weight in one sites reviews, something failing is totally different then saying it was only say 85% effective. btw I didn't read pcmag or go there, this was from a blog and the avtest themselves. pcmag just reprints articles. Edited by DST4ME - 03 Mar 2013 at 11:40am |

Maybe ESET is the one for you police215.
FYI...Norton 360's only annoying if you use their subscription back-up service feature and need to buy more of their paid storage. I use Win 7 back-up and have an on-board back-up drive on my rig, so I did not configure that service and I just turn Norton 360's backup feature off in Norton Backup settings... Never bothers me, and so far it hasn't failed me in the last 8 years or so on 3 PC's.. |

the DNS cache popup: ip 196.168.0.1
Also once i turned off Eset and firwall the internet works... here was my settings before I turned it off. Im a cop not a computer genius, so my guess would be some type of firewall setting. |

Put firewall on interactive please, and pay attention to the prompts, make sure you allow permanent access if that ip addy pops up or dns pops up.
the interactive basically will ask you permission to access certain things and as you allow apps you are also setting permissions within the app, so after a little bit of use you can just go to "auto with rules" if you wanted, I like interactive cause I want to know at all times who/what wants in/out of my pc. if that does not fix and you have not done so use the dns flush tool: down load the dns flush tool to your desktop and run it then reboot pc. Hi police215..... I have never used ESET but until DST gets back, here's a link that might help. Its basically having you make an exception to the Remote IP address that it detects as a possible threat, after you determine it isn't.
Good Luck.

Here's another link where you can specify which pages you trust so firewall doesn't block it. Just enter webpages URL addresses.
But, this could be a pain and there has to be a better way, but I'm just guessing without it in front of me to test. Some one might be by later to tell me I'm all wrong, but, hey, gave it a shot. |

Uninstall eset 6 and go to program folder and dele the eset folder you find.
then reinstall, this time do so when I'm on so that I can guide you thru install, I think some where during install you picked a wrong option. But before you do all that, do a full scan of the pc and make sure your av settings look like this before you scan: eset settings Edited by DST4ME - 09 Mar 2013 at 11:15am |

I don't use IM types of stuff, its the easiest way of getting hacked.
I think both of our schedules are crazy, as you can see its 2:30 am and I'm on, probably won't be back on till tomorrow night, week days are crazy for me. |
