I think the Cops came to your house not because the sound was so loud, it was that you were listening to Abba, and should have been arrested. Big%20smile

I use Bose speakers and am very happy with them.

Just the desktop speakers......I think they cost like 150.00 and sound crisp, loud and clear.

I have the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 setup.. not the ultra (not much difference between them anyways).  I got this 5.1 system probably 5 years ago and it is still great.  I debated going to the Logitech Z550 but why replace my current Klipsch speakers if they are still working.

I think the ProMedia 5.1 have been discontinued for a while now, though.

I just bought a Bose Companion 3 Series II setup.  I have a Bose Lifestyle 35 Surround in the den and that system is awesome.  I have to say this about the Companion 3, it is quite awesome also.  Bose has some fantastic technology that goes into their products, always over priced, but it does perform nicely.

Klipsch is nothing to sneeze at.  They have had some of the finest speakers out there on the market and continue to produce quality equipment.

It really does come down to personal preference.  There are a lot of great sounding speaker setups out there, you just have to decide what sounds best for your taste and budget.  Of course, budget doesn't necessarily dictate quality.  Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I have a 5.1 surround system from Klipsch in my living for my HDTV.   probably one of the best systems I've ever heard, also got the 10" subwoofer with it and it feels like I'm in a theatre.

A lot of movie theatres use Klipsch brand speakers.

Although I have heard some surround sound systems that costed $20,000 or more and sounded no different then bose or klipsch.  Although I must say my friend has an Bose acoustimas 10 or something like that. It sounds fantastic on high pitched sounds, the only problem with the acoustiamas (whatever it's called) is that bose wont let you replace 1 speaker unless you pay a huge amount of cash.  In that case you might as well buy the $999.99 setup again which is what I was told.

The only thing that made me pick the Klipsch over Bose was the subwoofer which is so tiny, it puts out base but not I cranked it up and was like Pinch.   other then that very solid system, which took me 2 weeks to choose between bose and/or klipsch.

I will probably go klipsch again for my computer.

Audio is sooo subjective.

The only advice on speakers I would ever give is shop with your ears, not with your eyes, audition the speakers in person, and ask if you can exchange/return the items before you purchase, as the speakers can, and will sound different in your home than they did at the store.

Good advice.  Also, read up on sound treatment..  There are so many little things you can do to a room that will make all the difference in the world.
