I've been on your site playing around with a ton of different options. I want to make a killer Trading tower. I'm a Stock trader and Want to run two 43" 4K Monitors with a ton of overhead when dealing with multiple charts running optimally. I've been going back in forth with the Intel or Ryzen chips. It's looking like Ryzen is the best for this type of use since they're putting out more cores than intel. But you're the professionals, and I would love your input on this. Also, to make things a little more complicated, I would like to edit photos & videos from time to time as I'm also running an ASUS ProArt 4K monitor. |

I don't know much about stock trading software. Do you know if it requires a fast CPU or GPU? I wouldn't think it would, but I could be wrong.
My gut feeling says a Ryzen CPU would be better for this purpose. |

We're not the professionals, we're users/enthusiasts that like the product and frequent the Forum.
I'd probably recommend an AMD 5900X, 32 GB of RAM, an NVMe SSD for primary drive. I'm not sure about those two monitors. I get the "overhead", but have doubts it exceeds or even comes very close to the demands of gaming. Multiple charts updating every couple of seconds is one thing, realtime gaming scenes being generated multiple times a second is what these GPUs can handle. An RTX 3080 might be fine. You might actually need to talk to the real professionals at Digital Storm about that. Send an e-mail to [email protected] He's the tech Guru that welcomes questions, and you'd like to know what he thinks. As for the editing thing, the parts I suggested will do a fine job IMHO.

Stock trading isn't my forte, but I do know a little about it. A lot of data refreshing (graphs, tables, news) typically via websites/Web apps. @Cretae's recommendation to contact the pros at DS isn't a bad one. Nevertheless, I'll give this a shot...
I did also use the following articles as reference: Build the Best Stock Trading Computer for Your Money | claytrader.com The Ultimate Trading Computer Buyers Guide | Blue Aura Computers ------------------------------ On the lower end... Config #: 4112798 Price: $4,825 Specifications: Model: Digital Storm Velox Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (16-Core) 4.9 GHz Turbo Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming (Wi-Fi) (AMD X570 Chipset) (Up to 3x PCI-E Devices) (No SLI) System Memory: 64GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series Power Supply: 850W Digital Storm Performance Series (Modular) (80 Plus Gold) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 980 PRO) (NVM Express) Storage Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 980 PRO) (NVM Express) Internet / Network Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 3080 10GB (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (Dual Fan) (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance) Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Internal Lighting: Remote Controlled Advanced LED Lighting System (Multiple RGB Color Modes) Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans CPU Boost: Stock Factory Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking Graphics Boost: No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) OS Boost: No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-Bit) Recovery Tools: USB Drive - Windows 10 Installation (Format and Clean Install) Virus Protection: Windows Defender Antivirus (Built-in to Windows 10) ------------------------------ Explanation: Model (Case) The Velox X has an inverse ATX layout. As you can see in the product images, the side panel window is on the right (when looking from front) rather than the left. This layout benefits graphics card cooling, although, that isn't as significant in your intended primary use. The Lynx is a slightly smaller mid-tower case with, obviously, some aesthetic differences versus the Velox. The "lower end" configuration in the Velox case would cost ~$4,050. I figured, that ~$300 savings would fall within the ideal of being budget-focused/friendly. CPU (Processor) With the constant data refreshing regarding stock monitoring, a CPU that can handle at lot at once is important. The same goes for video and image editing, especially if you apply a lot of effects. The AMD Ryzen 9 is a great CPU for handling multitasking. RAM (System Memory) Being able to store all active applications and their actively processed data and RAM is key to ensuring other components can be utilized fully. You may be able to get away with 32GB comfortably, but it's always best to have a little extra. As a usage example, I've seen tools showing Web browsers using up to 2GB of RAM per active tab. Therefore, if you were to have a dozen or two tabs open for your trading, the Web browser(s) could indeed eat up 32GB+ themselves. Storage Of your noted tasks, video editing will benefit the most from high-speed storage. Nevertheless, with the price differences being ~$50, maybe ~$100 for certain capacities, and this being a PC for productivity, the upgrade to 980 Pro SSDs has enough value. The second drive (Storage Set 2) would presumably be where you'd store media files (e.g., video footage, images) for editing, etc. GPU (Graphics Card) For stock trading, the graphics are akin to 'office' stuff, not extremely demanding. Some image editing software does utilize GPUs a bit (e.g., vector graphics). However, these graphics card choices are primarily based on your mention of doing some video editing. Anything else? I'd be happy to explain ( or at least try :) ). Edited by MrCheetah - 02 Oct 2021 at 7:00pm |

MrCheetah is literally more "professional" than I am. He uses productivity software in every day life, and IIRC, a lot of it has to do with photo/art editing. I'm just a humble gamer. He gives good council. If you want to bounce it off Stellar at DS, I forgot to mention DS does not aggressively try to upsell you. It's pretty safe to ask for their input.
