Budget:
1000$ Expectations: [wont let me down, fast, reliable Usage: 50% gaming, 50% web browsing Special Needs: fast and responsive Saved Ticket #: [Please Type Here] Specifications: I need a desktop for web browsing and gaming, about 50/50 for each category. Im comparing the LYNX to the NZXT pre-builds and i wanna know if a i5-9400F CPU with NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti GPU (NZXT), out plays a i7-9700F CPU with NVIDIA GTX 1650 GPU (LYNX). Thanks |

Since it is much easier to upgrade a GPU than a CPU down the line I would probably go for the i7 9700f system. Of course the NZXT also comes with 8 Gb more ram which is also pretty easy to upgrade. It really depends on what you want. In the long run the DS system has a better upgrade path since you can pop a new GPU in it or increase the ram while the cpu is better. The NZXT system could be upgraded also, but generally the CPU is a bit harder to do than those other parts. Plus the cooler on the NZXT system is not very good. It will work fine with that CPU although I am not sure I would use it for a new CPU if you upgraded it. So I would likely still go with the Lynx build and figure I would upgrade down the line if I see a sale on a GPU or on RAM. Good Luck.

You need to first research the specs on the CPUs:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/190883/intel-core-i5-9400f-processor-9m-cache-up-to-4-10-ghz.html https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/193738/intel-core-i7-9700f-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-70-ghz.html Without talking about the GPU yet, you are comparing 6 core 6 thread with 8 core 8 thread. That by itself won't matter much in games. What will matter is the turbo boost frequency - 4.1 vs 4.7. Games are still heavily single core based. The max turbo could make a difference. You should also research the GPU specs: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Zotac-GeForce-GTX-1660-Ti-Desktop-Graphics-Card-Review.420372.0.html
The VRam (4 GB vs 6 GB) and boost clocks 1665 vs 1770) can make all the difference in the world. Based on the above, I would lean more on the NZXT build. For gaming, GPU is everything. |
