Just received my new DS rig and was looking through the configuration. It appears that in BIOS, it is set to run the fans at 100% speed all the time. Since I'm one to leave the PC on 24hrs/day, I would prefer to have the fan speed based on temperatures. Is there any particular reason DS would have set it this way or is that maybe just the default? Any adverse effects to switching it to be temperature-based? Wasn't sure if I was missing something since this is my first overclocked rig.

Thanks in advance!

If it's too loud to bare, turn on smart fans. If it doesn't really bother you, leave it at 100%.

Thanks for the replies. I was actually thinking more along the lines of power usage instead of sound (which doesn't bother me at all). If it's sitting idle, didn't want to waste too much energy, but on the other hand, maybe there's not much difference between 100% and say, 50%. If it makes the components last longer, it's quickly going to be a wash, money-wise. Anyone know for sure?
