I know this isn't really a tech support forum, but I'm kinda having an
issue and i figured someone here might be able to help. I bought a DS
computer a few years back, its run PERFECT since day one. Never really
had any problems with it, its been amazing and consistent. However I
recently had to replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard and now I'm
having a bunch of BIOS issues when i start the computer back up. Its asking me about a floppy disk drive that i dont even have and maybe some other issues.
I have enough understanding that i can google around and fix a few minor things, like i tried to kill the floppy drive 'boot up' from the BIOS settings, but there isnt an option to do anything with the imaginary floppy disk, in said settings. Anyway now that my BIOS has been reset, am i sh*t out of luck trying to get things back to the way they were when i bought my DS computer? I have no earthly idea how or what most of anything in the BIOS means in relation to my computer hardware so changing any of the setting myself isnt really an option. Hell if i cant get something working i may have to bite the bullet and just get another damn DS computer, lol, even if it would break my bank. |

Hi Kahless... in the old days, like two years ago
, floppy drives controllers on the mobo were normal. Not so now.
Go into Bios and make your cd/dvd the first in boot priority. That might do it. Check your mobo manual for a place in Bios to disable floppy drive. You can also email DS and they will send you your original Bios settings you can enter and save. Hope this helps. |

Got the issue fixed, called up DS support and got some help. It was near closing and i wasn't sure i would be able to get hold of them, figured i would post and ask ASAP.
The problem was the computer was detecting a floppy drive and there was none, DS tech support talked me through changing the BIOS settings to make sure it wouldn't try to detect it anymore. Problem solved really easy, lol. |
