Hi! I got my level 4 vanquish at the start of January this year, and everything has been going good until the power went out, and my BIOS clock (RTC clock) stopped ticking, and the time is windows is the same each time I restart my computer. Please help :D, thanks.

I haven't seen system clock issues in years and now you're the second one in less than a week. Must be something going around.

Try unplugging the rig , holding power button in for several seconds, plugging back in and power up.

Try doing a CMOS reset. Use the mobo manual for procedure. Probably a jumper on the mobo that you change with power off, power back on and then off, move jumper back and boot again. This will drop your overclock and you might need DS to help restore it if the saved profile in bios is lost.

Another trick is to remove the cmos battery, short the contacts in slot, power off, unplugged, of course, and re-install battery and try it.

None of this helped the other's issue so I hope it helps.

A call to DS might be needed.   Good luck and let us know.

One more thing to try....  Right click the task bar clock, select adjust time, go to Internet Time tab , change settings and Update Now to sync to internet.

Running Windows repair with start up disc is another way to check for corrupted files after a power loss.

Worth a shot.

I actually have tried the internet time. It changed to the correct time, but soon it changed back to 9:15 (the time my RTC is stuck at). How exactly would you get into windows repair? Thanks. I actually am at school. I will try unplugging the PC, but I don't know if I want to reset the CMOS because I am a noon at OCing and don't want to go through all the trouble to set it back up again

I don't have Windows 8, but with Win7, you put the OS disc into the optical drive, CD/DVD, re boot and select Repair from the advanced options.

I would email DS and ask them for any hints.   It could be a corrupt file from the power failure,  the cmos battery or a problem with the motherboard.  Tough to say .

I am pretty sure this is some kind of BIOS problem. The RealTimeClock has stopped ticking.

Holding power button in while rig is unplugged and cmos reset might be the fix. You can also try replacing the battery, although that's after the other checks.

Is there anyway to save my overclock settings in my bios? Also reaching in my mobo sounds kind of scary. Would I just pull out the CMOS battery, wait like 10 seconds and put it back in? Isn't there some pins you can short to clear the cmos? Can you please provide a link on how to clear the CMOS of the z-87 ASUS mobo? Thanks!

I'm not at my pc, so checking the procedure is tough right now. Your mobo manual should have the procedure. It's usually a plastic jumper near the battery that you swap from pin 1&2 to 2&3 as an example with power off but still plugged in. Power back up , power down again and put jumper back.

You could try just removing the battery for several minutes and see if that fixes the RTC. I've seen it work for oddball problems.

DS will send by email the settings in Bios to apply to get the oc back. Not sure there is an option to save outside bios. I would get the clock fixed first and then go for the oc.

Hope this helps ya.

Not sure what your schedule is, but if none of my suggestions help, I would set up a time for a tech to call and get some real-time help. They might be able to remote access the rig and poke around. Forum help can be frustrating being just the nature of the beast.

I just looked at the manual for your z87-c mobo. Page 1.8 has the procedure.

Basically, with rig unplugged, go to the CLRTC jumper on lower right side of the mobo. Move jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2_3. Wait 10 seconds and then move back to pins 1-2.

If that doesn't work to fix RTC, remove battery and repeat the steps above.

Hope this does it.

I'm not saying clear cmos fixes this. If you have doubts or just feel more comfortable, get DS to help.

What fixed it?   Do you know you lost oc?

Just email DS and ask for the oc settings. They'll send them to ya.

Probably not there, but check if the overclock profile is still in Bios or not.

I fixed it by just uplugging it, moving the "shorter" from the 1st and 2nd pins to the 2nd and 3rd pins, plug computer back in,press power button (shouldn't turn on),Unplug computer, move "shorter" back to 1st and 2nd pins, plug in computer and it works!
