Blizzard getting ready to announce new game @ WWI?

A new splash screen has been activated over at www.blizzard.com and this could be related to the long awaited game announcement we've all been waiting for! Worldwide Invitationals take place this weekend so not much longer folks.

The image is saved over at blizzard as 232309/_images/ice1. Let speculations begin..

Diablo 3?
Starcraft MMO?
WotLK release date? (wow fanbois piss me off)
WC4?
a new franchise?

The image names might still mean something though, now we got WWI as folder name, and DOW as image letters. The numbers are now a mystery again, but a couple of theories are:
  • D = Diablo, W for WarCraft, O for a new game, next letter might be S for StarCraft.
  • World Of Diablo, unlikely with another letter coming.
  • They might spell out DASHOW, the artist that worked with Blizzard on Diablo previously, and have a love for purple walruses! (Thanks Sebb630)


Icy, the new css name however continues to hint Diablo 3: Tundra, Cavern and Icy might be from Drifter Cavern, Frozen Tundra and Icy Cellar in Act V of Diablo 2.

Image updated. I doubt this is WotLK or SC2. Blizzard only uses splash pages like this on new, previously-secret games. And they said they were working on a new MMO, so my bet is Diablo Online.

At the end of D2:LoD, the World Stone was destroyed by Tyreal. The World Stone was the only thing keeping the Arreat Summit from freezing over, so though they may be trying to trick us into thinking this is a WotLK splash, I think it's just the Arreat Summit from D2.

id be willing to bet that the circular glyphs in the picture, 1, now 2 of them, have a lot to do with whatever this is, i was never a fan of diablo, so i cant speculate in that area, maestros idea sounds good to me

I don't expect this to be related to WotLK or SC2 since it's sort of retarded to hold a press conference to announce ONCE again the game that was announced the previous year. There is a good chance it's Diablo 3 and it might be the next-gen MMO Blizzard is working on but it makes little sense from a PR perspective. But I'm betting my money on Project Hydra... whatever it may be.

That would be a great game! I am sure that there are many people that have played all three and enjoyed it. We will sure have a great selection of characters to choose from.
 
I have my money on Diablo 3.

I dont remember seeing any ice in the diablo line, except for frost sorcs, and those suck.

I mean come on, a game about hells minons.....fire and brimstone....and ice?

patch 1.11 hell has frozen over.

and something in the lore that starts with a C if i remember correctly where its frozen...

Confirmed to be a game announcement.

"So you want me to announce the game before our announcement?" he said. "No offense, but I think there's like 300 people here, and I'll be ripped apart by 8000 people there [at the Invitational] if I pre-announce it - but it's going to be really exciting. I think everybody here will be really excited about the announcement."
