Ok, so I just recieved my DS computer 2 days ago, which by the way is a massive machine...pretty impressive. I turned it on and there were no problems and it started up without a hitch. So next I decided I have to get the necessities downloaded (i.e. WoW and Warhammer). First I installed WoW, and I kept getting the Blue Screen O'death. So after numerous attempts, I finally got it to install. I thought maybe Windows 7 just wasn't playing nice with WoW. So now i'm installing Warhammer, and the same thing is happening. It keeps crashing during the patching process and i'm not making any progress. Below is my system specs and report from Who Crashed Home. I appreciate any help and please use small words

Blue Screen O'death Con't:
Conclusion
10 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is really responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further. |

No I haven't had a chance yet, because of work. I browsed through the guide briefly. I won't actually have a chance to work through the guide until maybe tomorrow. Didn't know if this was a common thing or not.

Well I went ahead and ran Prime 95, Memtest, LinX, and HD Tune Pro and everything passed. So after reading the support forums, I guess the next step reinstall windows? If I do reinstall windows, will I lose my OC?

im thinking its a driver problem, so if you dont want to reformat then you can test out each of your drivers by uninstall/install newest from internet/restart/test
or you can just reformat.. its pretty new anyway, so im guessing you wouldnt lose much progress
IF YOU DO REFORMAT, dont make the same mistakes, this is 90% a software conflict. so reformant, install you video drivers only, play a game.. if you have no problems, install your sound drivers, play a game, etc etc
something went wrong along the way so dont reformat and just do everything the same way as this could end you up in the same place
good news? if you passed all those tests, you hardware should be in great shape!
did you also test with Furmark?

I ran Furmark for about 3 hrs and the max temp was about 58 degrees and didn't notice any problems. It seemed to run pretty smooth. I guess I'll have to check out those drivers now.

I don't have a lot on the computer so, I'm not too worried about losing what is on there. Will the reformatting remove the OC? The only reason I ask is because I have no experience with OC'ing.

no it will not impact your OC at all, your motherboard has instructions that come before your operating system, you could switch to Linux and it wouldnt change your oc

Could also be caused by a bad HDD or bad SATA cable. Might try downloading HD Tune and checking the SMART tab, as well as running a quick sector test.

Errors in crss, win32k, ntokernel, aren't those all core windows processes? could be some corrupted data, or who knows what. reformat and reinstall should fix it, but like venom said, verify the HDD is functioning correctly at the hardware level first.

@pilothead,
I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your new PC. I'm sure it is something simple that we can help you resolve. I reviewed the test reports on your system prior to shipment from our facility and your machine left with flying colors. I believe there are two things that may be the issue: 1. Loose component or cable from shipping shocks or vibrations 2. Windows corrupted somehow from either updates or software being installed. Since all of the tests passed, I doubt it's a hardware issue. I would try the following: 1. Re-seat all cables and hardware inside your system (especially your memory sticks and video cards). Then check if the issue is gone. 2. If not, load BIOS defaults NOT OPTIMAL inside the BIOS, and re-enable AHCI in your IDE settings for your SATA controller and then see if the issue goes away. 3. If it does not, try using System Restore to the point before you received the system and then try re-installing the games and see if the issue goes away. 4. After all of that, and it does not, I recommend a format and fresh re-install of Windows. Our support staff can help you if you need assistance. |
