Hi guys,
I am having a problem with my new pc, a few days ago I put my computer to sleep, and then I pressed the space bar. The indicator light on the front of the case light up, and froze, I tapped the space bar again, and waited a few minutes, nothing. I then pressed the power button once, and waited. Once again nothing happened, I had to force shutdown. When the pc shut down, the power light remained on, this doesn't usually happen. I turned on the pc and before the OS started up, I got a unsuccessful shutdown message. Then I started windows normally, and a blue screen flashed, and the pc restarted with a beep. Then it worked. Today, the same thing happened. I am beginning to get worried, the computer is brand new and has almost no software on it. What could be the problem of that, could it be the hard disk?, I have a Seagate barracuda 1.5tb 7200.11, these have been known to cause problems.

@fil1p,
I'm sorry to hear about the problem you're having. I highly doubt it's the hard drive, and honestly, anything inside a computer has been known to cause problems. It's just a matter of using Google to search for the part. I recommend trying the following things: 1. Re-seat your video card(s), system memory, and the SATA cables to the hard drive and motherboard. Then see if the issue goes away. 2. Use System Restore to restore your system back to a point before this started to happen. |

X58's have some odd sleep issues sometimes. Occasionally my system won't recover from sleep, then I'll just do what you did, manually power down, start up and watch the power pump once, then hit fine on the unsucessful power down.
Let it sit for a little while longer, and then we'll see whether something's really up or not. |
