Topic: Blueray Software included in my DSO system Posted: 26 Jun 2011 at 8:41am |
Ok, So within my system configuration I have Blueray player.
DSO included Cyberlink software for that player. My first attempt at watching a Blueray movie was today, and I keep running into an issue where the Cyberlink player(even after updating) refuses to play my Blueray movie because my Digital Output device does not support HDMI, DVI, or HDCP. I assume by "digital output device" it is referring to my monitor. While I admit this monitor is about 4 years old, its the most non outdated monitor I have ever had, I do not really have the money to go out and buy a new monitor at the moment. Is there any work around for my issue? Thank you for any and all help. |

ok So I installed this file as you suggested.
When I tried to play the disk I got the following error. VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd://D:\'. Check the log for details. Not sure where the "log" is, as I didn't see any option under any sub menu labeled as such. I did do a google search for that error, and came to the forums for the site that offered the program. However the topic I found mentioned 2 possibilities. 1. some people where talking about manipulating commands. I am no tech savvy person. I get that dvd://D:\ is a command, but I have no idea what its supposed to mean, or what its supposed to do. Likewise I have no idea how I would create a command to manipulate functions at all. 2. a couple responses mentioned that some newer disks have copyright protection that would prevent playback in some cases. I looked this up on google, and found a wiki article mentioning copyright protection against sound or display (or any other hardware) that does not support HDCP. I do know that my monitor does not support HDCP, it was the last of the ViewSonic models to have not. So, am I just up a creek, with no resolution but to buy a new monitor just to play my bluerays? Or what is there a work around command for that software suggested to me to use? 1 other note of interest or not, is that while the VLC media player listed multiple media types, it did not list an option for Blueray disks....I do not know if this might have been the issue with it or not. Thank you for all continued help. |

I don't think vlc can play bd.
what gpu do you have? try uninstalling the PowerDVD you got from DS, and go to Cyberlink"s website and download a copy of that version and see if it makes a difference. Edited by DST4ME - 26 Jun 2011 at 9:26pm |

ok I installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 11 off their website, and I am receiving an almost identical error.
"Cyberlink PowerDVD is not able to play the protected content on your ditital output device. Ensure that your Display supports HDCP - (Code = 0107) Aside from specifically mentioning Display, this error is exactly the same as the one I got from PowerDVD 8 that DSO installed on my system. edited to include my gpu: Galaxy GTX570 Edited by Vigoon1st - 26 Jun 2011 at 11:10pm |

i think ive found you a solution.
http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvdhd.html download and install that software and make sure its running in the tray. This should remove most drm from the blu-ray and youll be able to watch it. If it works you may want to buy it but it comes with a 21 day free trial so you can test. |

EXCELLENT.
Thank you very much for finding that for me. Cost is still kind of expensive for the blueray version, but I do have the 21 days of free trial, and at least the option of not having to get a new monitor. Thank you so very much, Very very appreciated =) |

I doubt it, I bought it off amazon.com (from amazon, not from a private seller) It came with a nice box that contained both cases for the 3 blueray disks, as well as a full art and story booklet(a well made one) the box looks proffesionally made and has a bar code on it. etc. When I looked it up online from the company that produced it, it looks exactly like what I have. It I don't know seems a little out there that someone would make copies and then go out of their way to ensure that everything about the packaging and contents were 100% the same as the real thing. All that said, Why would you assume it was a copy? Edited by Vigoon1st - 27 Jun 2011 at 4:55am |

I'm surprised that you need anydvd to run it, normally we use anydvd to make copies we are not suppose to of our own stuff , so I thought it was that, looking at its home page (its been a while) I see it does more then what it used to now indays, like HDCP and etc.
