I'd like to purchase this system from DS but a lot of my friends are saying that this is way to expensive for what you get. I did look on newegg.com to compare prices for the parts and it comes out to be 2189.96 so about a $1,000 dollars difference. I understand that DS is a company and they need to make money but like I said friends say I should build my own like I usually do and stop being lazy and save the $1,000 dollars.

Anyone think it's worth the purchase price?

The thing with the bolt chassis is you will not find any other place that sells the chassis because DS builds it and its unique. Sure you can build it yourself but you know you are buying a computer that will built by a company that cares and you will have a warranty and lifetime support if something does happen. So imo i think it is worth the price.

Here's what you do;  get the box of awesomesauce that is the Bolt II, tell your friends to build the same machine with the same components.  (They won't be able to, because the case is proprietary.)  When they are still fighting RMA's, DOA, pasting, busting knuckles and OS's, invite them over to watch you play on your machine.

DIY is fine.  But if you want someone to stand behind the build, you can't go better than DS.  Smile

Hi Rukhas... Welcome to the forums.   A lot of us have gone through the exact same decision making process. Build it yourself and pocket the money or let someone else do the work, and be there if technical issues come up. I and others here have built it ourselves and enjoyed it. But, that can also get old. If all the parts work then it's a great decision. If an issue on boot ,for example, pops up, or BSOD or shutdowns happen then for most, where do you start. Is it the motherboard, the power supply, or a bad ram stick? What part do you RMA?

If you can troubleshoot it yourself then that also can be fun. I've done it and still do. If not, then that should also be a consideration. My son has a friend that built a pc, couldn't get it to work and after 3 years is still just a paper weight. I offered but she never took me up on it.

After all my rambling it's basically cost vs someone watching your back.

Either way, good luck , hope your choice works for you.
