How is the air flow on these cases? I'm a little worried that my build, having a 3080 and r7 3700 is gonna make things run hot in it

The bolt does run quite hot. It is designed to handle it. Never tested a 3080 before. Ask DS for your own peace of mind.

You'll have to ask DS for specific thermals with those parts. The newer cards are going to be hard to get info on in custom cases for a while. I agree with Cretae though, the Bolt line historically has run hot. DS will correctly say they don't run so hot as to malfunction, but they do run hot.

After talking to support I'm kind of feeling uneasy about my build, the r7 has the hydrolux cooling on it but the 3080 does not and speaking with support didn't really clear anything up other then being told I could add noctua fans to my order... Kind of left the impression that the system might arrive to me loud/hot and I wouldn't be told other wise

If you are not too far along the production line, change the case. The Lumos case has very good airflow. I have a Lumos case with an air-cooled cpu.

So take this with a grain of salt as we are comparing two entirely different systems that are several generations apart, but the Bolt I is the loudest PC I've owned in my entire life by a huge margin. I will say the temps have always been pretty dang good for an air-cooled SFF case though, and it's still running with its OG setup 7 years later (sans GPU which died and was swapped in 2017). So I wouldn't be too concerned about failure-level heat, but it's going to be warm and there is at least a chance it will be loud, but loud is subjective and again I'm fully aware me comparing a Bolt I to a Bolt X is a poor comparison, I just figured I'd share.

If it came with failure level heat I'd be livid, thank you for the insight though, it being a portable heater and kinda loud is exactly the thing I don't want. It doesn't have to be extremely quiet but I don't want it heating up my room and making hella noise in the process not for three grand anyway

I don't really like the look of either the velox or lumos, so I'd rather just scrap the purchase entirely if it's gonna come as a glorified space heater/ noise maker

You might try to see if you can find any user videos of the Bolt X running under load (yes it won't be with your exact setup but it still might give you a general idea). Even my Bolt I is fairly quiet when idle, it's not silent but it's not bothersome to me and I'm fairly noise-sensitive. Under load is when it turns into a hell-banshee though. LOL On the Bolt I the noise problem was mostly the PSU and that improved quite a bit when I swapped out the 780 Ti for the 1060. Not sure where the Bolt X might have issues, and again I'm not well versed in the Bolt X at all. I'm just sharing my own experiences with an earlier version of the Bolt as one customer who cares about noise to another.

Edit: Just to add, overall I've been very happy with both my DS purchases. However I pull no punches when discussing the, to me, nearly absurd noise levels of the Bolt I. I still recommend DS and my guess is that they improved that for the later Bolt models that utilize air-cooled components.

Thank you for sharing again.I really hope it doesnt come out a space heater/noise make, and I definitely don't want to have to take the glass panel off or w/e for the amount of $ going into this neither should even be an issue....

It won't be that loud, you can always adjust noise profile.

I believe for all BOLT builds with the RTX 3080, we are installing a special side panel that has additional vent cut outs around the GPU area.
