Hello there.

I just received my new Bolt X three days ago (Thursday).

On the first day of ownership, the machine shut off with no warning while I was playing Survive Mars. It flashed back on for a brief second before I assume it locked itself out for safety.

The entire system was hot to the touch and the power button would not turn it back on. After unplugging it and letting it cool down, I turned it back on and ran Real Temp. While watching Netflix, temps got up to the 70s (C), and while playing Survive Mars I saw up towards 80 C shortly before it tripped off again. It has since happened twice more and now it sits on my floor while I use my old system.

There are no fluid leaks, all fans were running, and the occasional bubble told me that coolant was moving.

I submitted a trouble request with DS, but haven't gotten a response yet. I know enough about computers to get by, but am by no means an expert. Anyone have any advice?

This is what I have:

Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-I Gaming
System Memory: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series
Power Supply: 700W Digital Storm Performance Series
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 970 EVO)
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB (VR Ready)
Extreme Cooling: Digital Storm HydroLux PRO LITE (CPU + Graphics Card)
HydroLux Tubing Style: HardLine Tubing (Requires HydroLux PRO Custom Liquid Cooling System)
Chassis Fans: Standard Black Fans

Just shouldn't be happening. Definitely a situation for DS to diagnose. They don't work on weekends, so that's the delay just now. Hang in there.

Have you checked to make sure there is no packing material in the case?

I did, and I went and checked again after you asked. Nothing.

Your symptoms definitely seem related to inadequate cooling. If there are no leaks, and coolant is moving through the system as you describe, your CPU water block may not be adequately mounted.

Here is an example video showing the effect of a failed AIO cooler. Everything seems to be running but no coolant is making it to the CPU water block:

Still no response. The automated response to my trouble ticket said they were "under heavy call volumes." Do they often take this long to reply?

It varies. You know, each call can be quite lengthy as they attempt to walk customers through possible fixes. They sold a ridiculous number of units over the holiday period that may have them busier than they are used to. As a veteran here, I know they WILL get to you. No idea when.

I understand completely you are anxious and impatient. Send an e-mail to [email protected]. He's customer service Guru aroud here. We're pulling for you.
