your budget is too tight, there is a big difference in gaming between 720p and 1080p, 720 is around 1280×720 res and 1080 is at 1920x1080 res.

for 720p in games a 460 gtx should do you good, not sure if it will do as well at the higher res, I don't play those games myself.

for $1200 we can get you system with a 460, i5 and p55 mobo, but x58 platform with i7 would be a much better choice and out of the range of the budget, would need around $1500 for that.
