Broken Motherboard?

The other day my mouse got ripped from one of my back USB ports and the computer shut off. The USB port is broken now and when I try to turn on my computer it says “USB Device Over Current Status Defected” and the computer turns off. The same message pops up when all usb devices are disconnected. What can I do to check if it’s really the motherboard that’s fried? Does it have something to do with the broken port? I have a digital storm vanquish 4 level 2.

Sounds like the pins inside the USB plug are shorted.   That will shut things down.

I would unplug the pc, take some tweezers, small jewelers screwdriver or just a pin and see if you can separate the pins inside the port. You might get lucky.    You don’t want any pins touching.

It’s possible the power supply or mobo are blown but depends on a lot of things.

An oc, lc mouse can be a dangerous animal IMHO.
