hey,

my brother bought a vanquish in january 2016, and it seems to have an issue. the pc will turn on for about 10 seconds, then will power off and it will automatically repeat this. i have removed the ram and tried to power on the pc, but the same issue occurs. there is also no display to the monitor.
anyone have a clue as to what could be the issue? a possible faulty psu?
thanks!

could be, but troubleshoot some.  check all of your psu connections to each component.  try reseating graphics card, memory, drives, etc.  try removing any extra peripherals besides keyboard, mouse and monitor and then try booting again.

clear CMOS (refer to your mobo manual).  verify boot order in the bios (refer to your manual on how to) is correct.  remove any overclock and reset to default bios settings.  if it's the graphics card, you can try booting without it installed and plug your monitor into the mobo directly.

try restarting into safe mode w/networking if it still won't boot properly.  try 1 stick of ram at a time in the first slot (move to other slots if problem doesn't resolve).  if you can get the pc to stay on at any point try running the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.  make sure all your drivers are up to date.

do you have a Corsair psu and if so, do you have Corsair Link installed and running?  you can check you psu voltages with this app.  otherwise, you'll need a multimeter to do so.  do you have a spare psu?

thanks for the reply.

I have made that sure all of the PSU connections are properly connected. I have reseated the video card, and ram to no avail. I have also tried on-board video but there is no display to the screen either. I'm not able to boot into safe mode as the desktop will just continuously boot and reboot within seconds. The PSU that came with the desktop is an EVGA brand so there isn't corsair link installed.

I did try and hook a different PSU to the PC, only the CPU fan was spinning though and nothing else turned on however the PC did not boot and reboot with the EVGA psu

disconnect everything connected to the psu but the motherboard, does the pc still reboot? If yes disconnect fans/cooler/hdd/ssd/dvd and things like that, and see if it still reboots. At this point we are just tyring to not have it reboot and get into bios. you can have the montior connected to the mobo(not gpu) during this.

okay. sounding more like a bad mobo to me, but try reseating the CMOS battery first.  it will clear CMOS and might get you into the bios.  have you noticed if a 2-digit q-code displays on the mobo during the period it is on?

Remove the graphics card and try it.

Unplug both cables to your drives and try it.

Plug your pc directly into a wall outlet, bypassing any surge protector.

Whatever you had it plugged in has gone bad.

Next time you have any power issues always mention that you are not directly plugged in the wall.

Bypassing a power strip has fixed quite a number of issues on the forums.   Not sure why exactly, except maybe "dirty" voltage feeding the psu.

Congrats and Enjoy. Big%20Smile
