I've been jonsing for a new gaming computer for a long time. I finally have the money to afford something that isn't complete trash, and had been considering getting back in to building my own, but on some level it's too much hassle and I my custom built systems always develop some glitch that has techs and savvy friends scratching their heads.
Now, the only thing standing between me and the investment is my wife-to-be whom I am working on. She's had me putting off the purchase discussion until after the wedding (which is in 8 days exactly!) understandably, since it is a large purchase. However I'm interested in Digital Storm over the other builders because of aparent quality and customer ravings.
I've fallen in love with the pre-builds. The games I'm going to be aiming to play are a lot of the new MMOs coming out this year, Dragon Age, Borderlands, and I'm sad to say I'm kind of a TF2 addict.

Monitor will be worked in to whatever I buy simply because when I moved someone decided it would be awesome to place some boxes on my LCD and now I've got this lovely green effect that looks like vines crawling up the corners of my screen. I'll probably end up going lower end there.

Now, I'm in love with the pre-builds as I said, and I'm looking at the two cheaper ones. I love the $999 build's setup but for the lack of i7. However, I like the other's i7 presence, but not the rest of the equipment. Of course, upgrading is the end I'm aiming to reach over time. I want something I can keep moving up for the next several years and expect it to keep going. I kept my last PC running for about 8 years and now it's coming to a coughing spluttering halt.

I like the Fragmaster's set-up and right now the price is way-right, but do you think the blitzkrieg could still keep up while offering me a nice tall roof to build up to? And does anyone know how long this special is going to last? I need to know how long I have to work over the ole wifey. Smile

well the prebuilds mobos, have only 2 PCI slots for GPUs so you can only go dual sli at at best. I'm not sure what size PSU the blitzkrieg comes in either.

for best upgrading PC a custom one is the way to go.

we never know how long the specials will last.

the i7 platform is a much better platform then the penryn and for upgrading also it has more potentials.

Yeah, the upgrading potential of the i7 is one thing I have in mind. I just would like the assurance it's gonna run fine until I have the scratch to upgrade again.

Dual SLI is probably as far as I'll ever end up going anyway.

OK but like I said I'm not sure if blitzkrieg has the PSU power to support dual sli to begin with, nor am I sure what mobo blitzkrieg has, the mobo I was referring to was from "best band for the buck" system.

Hello GUEST,i just got my pre-build two week's ago.It was the best bang for the buck.I have a few suggestion's for you that might help in your decision. It's really great that you have that money saved up.I would try to save up $250.00 to $300.00 more, and get the best bang for the buck. And to get the money faster, you could always try to get in some overtime at work.My mother board can hold 6 gig's of ram.It can go sli or crossfire, firewire, esata, dual gb lan.I know exactly what it's like to only have a certain amount of money to spend. So i think if your going to make a purchass, your best bet is to save up a little more, and go with the best bang for the buck.

Yeah, after two days of work I've talked her in to letting me pick it up, and I've additionally talked myself in to the Best Bang package. Now, so long as the deal continues through this week, I'll be able to pick it up. I'm waiting for some credit work to fall through so I can make the purchase hopefully monday!

Monitor question: Since I'm going to have to get a new monitor with this system anyway, what sort of resolution should I be looking for with the BBB's GPU setup?

1600 x 1200, higher then that and you will need 2 gpus for gaming.
