QuestionI was talking to a friend and he was telling how easy it would be to build my own gaming computer when I could just go out to places like fry's or sites online to buy the pieces i need in order to build a great computer and save money instead of buying a thousand or so computer online. I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on that or would you be able to suggest the best budget computer I could buy here and upgrade as time goes on, something could play all best games and do everything else.

FIRST of, if you don't have any knowledge of putting computers together and all there components then I would never recommend you put one together yourself!
You could be likely to buy incompatible components and/or put them together wrong. however I don't know your computer background so I am just throwing that out there.

That having been said DigitalStormonline takes away any need to build your own, DSO offers only the best components. And you would have a hard time saving alot of money putting one together yourself, and it would hardly be worth the hassle (especially if you've never done it before)

You would be MUCH better off buying a rig from here, that way you know components and build quality will be professionally taken care of.

And a rig you put together yourself will have no warranty to speak of, so if something does happen to go wrong (now or down the road) their wont be anything you can do about it.

you'll be able to upgrade:

RAM
CPU
GPU
HDD/SSD

For a few years at least, so when your parts are becoming "stale" a few hundred bucks will have it back to being a beast.

If your going to pay that much you might as well start with 6 gigs of RAM IMO.

now listen, only thing you might want to upgrade here is the HDD, next year get a good fast SSD and push the 500GB to HDD2 so that OS/games/apps are on the SSD HDD1 and HDD2 will get used as file storage

Other then that there is nothing you need to upgrade, that thing is a beast and ready to handle what ever you throw at it at 1900 x 1200

however you have room to upgrade any parts you like and remember this system will take the new 6 core CPU coming out in H2 of 2010, so you can upgrade to that down the road,
