Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get some advice from the veterans here about a build config.  My budget is around $1500.  What I have so far is...

Video Card: !PROMOTION: 1x ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB (Powerful Dual GPU Card)

Windows OS: - No Thanks, Please test my memory, I will be responsible for software based support

A couple of questions I have about the build...

1. Is there any benefit to upgrading the motherboard?
2. Is the stage 2 liquid cooling adequate for the level 1 overclock
3. Does it pay to go with the i-7 930, or should I go with the i5-750.  I will be using this for gaming on a 1920x100 monitor.

I will be using my own hard drive (Intel X-25M SSD) and sound card (X-Fi) in this build with a Windows 7 retail I bought separately.  Thanks in advance for the help!

there are.... several problems here :)
 
lets just start over shall we?
1500, you have a SSD and a sound card and windows, easy:
 
if youre willing to make the stretch, you could get to a gtx 480 with a little more cash, just fyi

The Asetek Liquid CPU cooler is just LC for the sake of saying it is LC. It isn't exactly known for its construction quality or reliability either. Its cooling pales terribly compared to real LCing, even good air coolers such as either of the Noctua models offered by DS will outperform it, especially the larger Noctua NH-D14. Select one of the Noctua coolers instead.

Thanks for the tip on the liquid cooling... do you think it's worth it to go to the Noctura NH-D14 from the stage 1 cooling?  Also, what do you think about the cooler master elite cases to save some money (specifically the 310)?

Yes and no. They perform similarly, the NH-D14 will only get you around 3°C cooler temperatures, making the smaller NH-U12P (Stage 1 version) the better buy for the money. However if you're got a bigger budget and already have most other things maxed out then another $50 for a few extra degrees of cooling isn't a terrible buy.

I prefer the HAF line, bigger fans for better air flow. So HAF 922 for a budget case.

I only have 2 questions left.  Since I didn't select a HDD or OS, will DS still perform stability testing with temporary parts?  Also, do you think it's worth it to upgrade the mobo to the eVGA x58 LE for only around $20 more?

Yes.

If you think you'll need the extra PCIe lanes in the future, sure.
