After 13 years, it is time to move on from my first DS rig. I need some help regarding case and cooling selection. I don't do a ton of gaming, but like to have the resources when I do. The computer is primarily for day to day home office / web surfing functions. I do not require lighting.
Given the length of time I have had the last computer, I realize airflow was a contributing factor in its longevity. That being said, I'm trying to decide between the Velox case, or stepping down to the Lumos or Antec cases. Also, for cooling, I would like some advice between H20 or Noctua Air.

Current config is around $2,300:
Chassis Model: Digital Storm Velox
Processor: Intel Core i7-13700KF
Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z790-P D5 (Wi-Fi)
System Memory: 32GB DDR5 5200MHz Kingston FURY Beast
Power Supply: 850W Digital Storm Performance Series
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (500GB Digital Storm M.2 Performance Series)
Storage Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Digital Storm M.2 Performance Series)
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 3050 8GB

Thanks!

I have a Velox with a Noctua DH-15S cooler, and I'm shocked at how well it cools. My case fans run at only 800 RPM most of the time, and the CPU temp rarely reaches 70C, even during intense gaming.
Velox, Intel Core i9 11900K, ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero
32GB RAM, 1TB Samsung 980 Pro NVME
RTX 4090, 38" Ultrawide LG-38GL950G
Noctua NH-D15S cooler and NF-A14 fans, Corsair AX1600i PSU

Thanks for the reply. Definitely makes it easier to lean toward the Noctua.

IMHO, the 13700 would be overkill for what you do. The 13600KF is not a typical i5 with only 6 cores/12 threads. the extra this chip provides goes right into performance. It also uses less juice and runs cooler.

I almost insist you get the Samsung 980 PRO 500GB for your primary boot drive. It is 3 times faster than the DS NVMe SSd. We're talking <15 second boot times and super-charging all those things you do from Windows.

The Noctua is a great part, and very likely to last longer than an all-in-one with a pump. Other than that, get ready to have your doors blown off performance-wise. this system will also last and last.

Thanks for the advice. Was definitely thinking the Noctua would outlast the pump. I also agree that the Samsung is the better option for the boot drive and you make a great point about the i5 processor.
I have no doubt about getting my doors blown off. My 13 year old DS was amazing back in the day. I'll still find some use for it... maybe unraid and a media server or something.
Oh well.. time to buy a Velox. Thanks again.

Having just received my Velox - I recommend you consider it's dimensions - it is a significant footprint and weight over 60lbs. Just make sure you've given that a thought ;)

It's actually smaller than my old Digital Storm Hailstorm (Black Ops). I'm pretty sure it's lighter too. I'll compare when I get the Velox.

The Velox is a great case and has excellent cooling, both air or liquid. It has the window on the right and mobo is upside down just so you know for where it will reside.
 Enjoy.
