Hello,
I'm planning on buying a new gaming system within the next two months and will likely purchase from DS. The prices you offer seem very good and your build discussion has been invaluable in figuring out what I need and want. Budget: $2500 max Usage: 80% gaming. 20% coding and surfing. Special Needs: Potentially dusty environment. Fiancee loves cats, so hair gets everywhere. I also saw a recent article on the Galaxy GTX480 OC GPU. I have a few questions regarding it. 1. Does DS have it available for builds? 2. Would DS recommend it over simply a cooling system upgrade for the case/gpu and a regular GTX480? 3. Is it just wasted money? Thank you! For high dust environments, 2 choices, 1. get a case with very good intake filters, and clean them frequently, or 2. get a normal case and clean out the inside frequently.
Just get a standard GTX 480, you can have DS put a mild overclock on it, or have help from the forums to put a decent overclock on it. they overclock very well, just get hot. the Galaxy will run a bit cooler, but will cost more..
DS can get any card you want, but if it is not listed on the configurator, then there is usually an extra charge.

What he said about the 480, and for a mainly gaming rig every thing else looks good but you could get more video power giving up some of that ssd space and getting 2 470s (1000w psu)
Or in your budget, 480s(1200w psu) |

Thank you for the quick responses.
As far as a case is concerned, I'm a bit split between the CoolerMaster HAF-X and the CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced. I'd like to keep the PC cool and the dust filters are a must. The 690 doesn't look all that roomy for the long run, but the filtration seems better. Have you seen any issues with the HAF-X's lack of a filter on the PSU at the bottom of the case? |

the hafx has way way better cooling than the 690
so have higher temps and less dust, or better temps and clean your case out more often, your choice

you can, i think the front intake even comes with a filter
but it, like the other HAFs, is open air, more dust than a closed case is unavoidable
