Hey guys!

I'm Brian and I'm new here but I think I'll be ordering tomorrow - technically later today since it's after midnight here.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  My budget is in the low 2ks.  Was looking hard at the ODE level 2, but I think this build is probably the better choice for me.

Mostly using for: Photoshop/Illustrator, gaming and some game editing (using the latest version of UnrealED), and music creation.  Right now single 24in monitor, don't plan on going higher than that for quite some time.

Not sure of MoBo or the best case for me.  Would like it fairly quiet and able to sit in a room that at times during the summer is as warm as 80 degrees (but would never be on when the room is any hotter than that).  Will add my own HDs, but was wondering about the hotswap bay - any feedback on that?   OC'ing the video card a bad idea?  Should I add anything else?

Thx!

haf 942 already has hostswap bays, Not sure how many, I think 4 or 5 if I'm not mistaken.

is 8GB enough for your use?

the mobo and psu you have chosen are for going sli, is that your plan? if not you can save some money.

rest looks good.

Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans:

haf 200mm non led fan

Good tip for that case.  Thanks!

I'm thinking 8GB might be enough, and if not, adding memory might be the easiest upgrade you can make.  I know running plugins typically takes up a lot of memory, but on my current system I'm getting by with only 2GB (though I'm running into problems and having to mix down some tracks before adding more effects/instruments).  If I add my own memory does that negate the warrenty?

What would be my choices if I decide not to build a system for SLI?  I was thinking it would be nice option for the future, but knowing me, I probably won't go SLI, just replace the 570 a few years down the road.

Do you know how much they charge, generally, for adding a fan like that?

Thanks so much for your quick reply!

My pleasure

Upgrading your pc doesn't void warranty, as long as your upgrade didn't damage anything that is under warranty.

if you are not using sli, go with the p8p67 mobo, and ask DS to use the corsair 750w hx psu, it has a 7 year warranty, we don't recommend teh DS certified psu and we don't much like the 800gs, the DS certified psu has only a 2 year warranty and we don't know the real maker, the 800gs has only a 3 year warranty and some possible issues down the road, the 750 hx has a 7 year warranty, and it cost $10 more then the 800gs.

adding the fan I mentioned should cost you around $20, for specifics you have to contact DS directly.

FYI: It appears the 750w HX psu is now an option on the builder.  Thanks for your help!
