Will this build work? Any ideas? I would like to keep the price at $2000. Is this a good video card? Also do I really need DDR3? Thanks...

I was thinking that HM, but after your experience with 780i, I thought maybe one day he might want to OC his system so I wanted him to have the best chance, the prices are not that different these day for some reason.

Youre original build is nice, though to save money id recommend you drop the 790i and replace it with the P5E3. Not only is it slightly cheaper, but it will free you up to using a second ATI card in the future should you want. Though im not so sure 750W is enough for dual 4870s, you way want to check on that.
Since youre on a fairly solid budget id recommend you a dual core over a quad. It saves a goodly amount of cash. Some here will deny that and demand you use a quad because its better and faster, but in both cases when it comes to gaming the vast vast VAST majority of the time that isnt true.
Also since youre on a budget id say trim the case lighting, Unless you are going for a bling effect, thats just all fluff that wont improve your performance any. Might I add the case fans on the cooler master case are red..so that might look a little funky.

I ofcoures disagree and advise you to go quad core, cause a dual core can't do what a quad core does, if you only game and game only you may want to go dual core but if you do more then just game, a dual core can't do what a quad core can.
If you want teh best your money can buy, then go with quad core, soon enough even quad cores are gonna be thing of the past |
