Looking to build a system to run two monitors at 1280x768 in dualview while multitasking with a stock brokerage account (streaming quotes & charts), streaming internet tv and multiple broswer windows open.
Oh and I might play BF2 when I'm bored. Maybe not at the same time.Cry
 
I do have a height restriction of 18" for my case.I think that only leaves
the Cooler Master 310 as my only option. 
 
I plan on using a 64GB ssd for my os drive but could'nt add it to the ticket.
If DS can't install it, I will. I want a fast boot up and program loads.
 
Any thoughts/advice would be apreciated!

man that case does not have the best airflow.

you don't want a 64GB ssd their speed is much slower than that of 120GB and 250GB.

also remember all ssds are not the same. if you can't get a 120GB vertex or corsair, then wait till next year and upgrade to ssd next year, you can check out my clone guide in my sig when you are ready to move os and all to the new drive.

other then that build looks good.

Thanks DST4ME for the advice.
Seems to be a lot of debate about what ssd controller to get.
Corsair has both Indilinx and samsung.
 
P-128 (samsung) has two firmware versions,VBM18C1Q is latest version with the new self-healing / garbage collection feature - firmware update not possible.
Getting the right version seems to be a bit of a crapshootBig%20smile.
 
X-128 (Indilinx) has a firmware update with garbage collection feature and
future updates promised for TRIM support in WIN7.
 
After reading Corsair fourm,other tweaks seem to needed for ssd's to perform at their best over time.
 
As for air flow, I may have to add a few quiet 120mm fans.

its a small case where would you add fans, also the case does not have many air opening, where is the air gonna come from?

if you don't like corsair then get vertex, no matter what, they run much faster also what ever problem they have the 64bit is still the slowest and not worth it.

but there are many people here with great performance with corsair and vertex, but at the end its upto you.

The 310 has place for 120mm fan in front of internal hdd's & one on left side by
the graphics card. One pre-installed in back.
 
What's your thought's on a ram fan.
 
The P/X -128 ssd's are 128GB and would be happy with either from
Corsair, IF, I can be sure it came with the firmware that supports some
kind of self-healing / garbage collection feature.
If you order one on-line, there would be no guarantee which one you'll get.
If you could find one at a store you would have open the sealed package to see
the firmware version.
 
I would prefer DS to install one.Will contact Sarah to see what they can do.

all cases have the exhaust fan in the back, thats a given.

the front fan 120mm fan will not make much of a difference on its own, on top of that its blowing the air thru the HDDs, which will warm it up some.

even with the side fan you got yourself 2 x 120mm fans blowing air in, thats not much of a airflow, depending on few things, your system temp might endup a bit higher then you like.

I'm just trying to share as much info as I can so you are not under a misunderstanding of some sort then when you get the system and get disappointed.

I would have felt more comfortable with a 922 but if you can't do anything about it, then just know what you are getting into, I hope the info helps.

ram fan is always a good idea IMO.

as far as worrying about losing performance with ssd, worst case scenario, do what I would do, clone your os drive (ssd) then do a secure erase on the ssd, the restore from the clone, viola, you got your ssd set back to factory state, and you have all your current data on it.


vertex supports trim I believe.

you tell DS what drive you want and tel them what firmware you want on it, just tell sarah what you want and she will take care of you.
