First off, the $600 Dell monitor I was recommended was a no go with dear mum, who wanted a monitor more within a budget of around 2.5k, so something around $300; keep in mind, I'm still looking for a 24". There seem to be two 24 inchers, by Acer and Samsung that can be bought from DS, themselves, however there is no elaboration on what models they actually are, other than their size. Anyhoo, I was wondering what ideas you guys had on the topic. To summarize-- 24" around $300 (400 is the absolute maxiumum if basically Jude Law, himself, wants me to buy that monitor)

Furthermore, the CPU Boost setting says that it applies only with an air cooling upgrade; is it implying that I, under no circumstances, should utilize H2O cooling? Because I'm not going to lie-- if I can get H2O cooling for around $8 more... I want. Now.

I think that's about it, dears. Thanks in advance,

Lukelo

P.S. Still debating which internal light colour looks the most bad-ass... will post findings shortly.

asetek is not real h2o cooling the Noctua d14 will beat it in temps. the d12 will match it and could beat it also.

ok so the problem now is that you need to get a monitor in the budget? if so then go with one of the monitors here then but you can check newegg also, prices should be a little better there.

Okie dokie, thanks. And you wouldn't happen to know what models the ones on DSO are (the Acer and Samsung)? Also, I'm assuming DS is implying that the Samsung one is better than the Acer because it is listed as $100 more?

Edit: So, I should scratch the H2O notion completely, because I'm guessing that any real H2O cooling would actually get quite expensive?

Second Edit: There isn't even an option on this build for another type of H2O, so nvm ^_^

When I switched from asetek to Noctua, the Noctua d12 lowered my max load temps 7 or 8 degrees and was more quiet as well.
I'm curious to see what you come up with for a monitor because I am in the same boat/budget for a monitor and also want a 24".  Keep us informed with what you go with and if you find any good deals.

ya real LC is like frostchill or subzero and that is in blackops and the prices over there are higher.

just because it cost higher does not mean its better, could be an old price vs new monitor, its best to find out the models and compare them so you know exactly what you are geting.

Andy, I'm going to poke around Newegg and Cnet reviews a bit today to see what options would be best. So far, I think I've pinpointed what the 24" Acer is and it's reviews aren't exactly stellar; it's title given by Cnet is "Good for gaming, but not much else", so I'll see if I can find something more appealing.

don't believe the reviews on cnet, I don't agree with more then half of them.

response time is bs, don't go by that, contrast ratio is not right either, so don't bother with that.

you are suppose to go by viewing angle but as we discussed its out of your price range, I guess look for the brand quality, color depth,r resolution.

My decision was between that and the ASUS, but the ASUS had 5/5 starts with triple the reviews on Newegg, won the customers' choice award twice, and was highly recommended for gaming by various PC sites.

@DST4ME-- TN Panels = bad? I'm aware that they are cheaper, but aren't all non-TN pannels thrice the price?

ips panels are more expensive because they have better image quality, and if take the Dell UltraSharp U2410 into account then no, they are not thrice the price lol.
