I’m just slightly confused and I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.
I ordered my PC 2/4/19 with full knowledge of the 20-25 business day build time. I haven’t ordered a PC in a long long time, but I remember that taking a while so I assumed this was normal. This past Thursday a friend of mine ordered a completely customized PC from ********, in which he hand picked every single part, and his shipment is on schedule to arrive TOMORROW 2/11. A build/ship timeframe of only roughly 5 days, 2 of which aren’t even standard business days. Therein lies the confusion. My DS Vanquish 7 level 3 is a configuration that DS allows nearly zero customization yet it takes 4x the amount of time to build and deliver. Wouldn’t one assume they would have these models built and on a shelf to test and ship out ASAP? Especially considering you can’t customize the internals at all? Is DS just that superior in every way that their quality is unmatched to a point where there’s NO way to build a PC of equal caliber in that same time frame? Don’t get me wrong. I’ve read all the posts about QC and extensive testing before shipping. But don’t you think ****** does that also? They have superb reviews on their builds. They obviously aren’t shipping sub par PCs. All of this aside. I’m excited to the point where I feel like a kid again, I just simply can’t wrap my head around how one company can ship a hand picked build in 5 days and I’m going to wait a month for a build you offered that can’t be customized. ... Welcome to the forum JWells8806.
Interesting to see how ******* does their site process. My thought here is that, in my experience, there’s a lot more to building a high quality gaming rig than slapping parts into place and shipping it out quick. You are posting to a blog of DS customers, when I believe your question can only be answered by Digital Storm itself. Try routing an email to [email protected] or [email protected]. You can share what they answered here if you like. ... Competitor name removed ... Edited by Snaike - 12 Feb 2019 at 10:26pm |

My only explanation is that the company your friend used isn’t any where near as busy. That’s a guess of course since I know nothing about them.
According to DS, they were buried with orders this holiday season, plus moving into a new, larger facility. You make a good point on non custom builds being prebuilt and ready to go, but if a company gets busy enough, even the prebuilds you have will run out at some point if orders are heavy. Then it’s building them as orders come in. |

The last thing I wanted to do was to come off as whining or entitled, just to be clear on the front end. I made my bed, I'm laying in it lol.
Anywho. I'm unsure of the customer base at ********, but I know they are a very reputable parts company and have a 48 hour shipping guarantee... Now i'm no business savant, but I'm certain that a company isn't going to slap a 48 hour shipping guarantee on something that costs a couple of grand if they can't deliver. I will know more starting tomorrow when my friend's PC arrives. If it's a slapped together piece of crap then I will mostly certainly let you all know. I guess another thing that's been frustrating me is the lack of recent content on the interweb based on customers ordering or receiving their builds. I'm just being impatient at this point. ... You didn’t come across as whining at all, just concerned. Who wouldn’t be ? Waiting for your DS build is almost worse than paying for it. Lol. Well, maybe not quite, but I’ve waited for 2 builds and waiting a few weeks for years of great gaming was worth it.
I would be curious how your friends pc quality is. Hopefully, it’s a great build. |

Lol. We were all first time customers once...for me that was back in 2010...and I have bought 4 DS custom built rigs in that time frame. We are all impatient every time the purchase is made, lol, so it’s cool. Do send the question off to DS, as we would all like our next DS built rig not to be quite so delayed...so they do need to see the competition and be open to improving their process and order timelines. We all hold their feet to the fire here on the forum about that, but that just makes DS a better company in the end when they have to listen and respond to their “Verified Customers”.
I can tell you that all 4 of my DS rigs are still turning heads and have been very easy to upgrade. DS is an experienced builder of a full range of high quality pc’s, from shelf pre-builds all the way up to fully customizable world class gaming pc’s and commercial class pc’s. Anything not on the DS parts lists can be requested if you are willing to wait a little. ******** is pretty new at building pc’s...just since 2017, and what they build is very limited in scope compared to DS. Watched a build vid from them...I saw no stress testing of the build...just installing parts, loading programs & drivers. DS will actually take time at the end in QC to stress test and tweak your components and decide if it’s good to go or not. The DS emphasis is not on rushing...it’s more about build quality and performance. That’s why we are all still here on the forum. ... Competitor name removed ... You hit the nail on the head here. Excellent response. Thank you so much for taking the time to type that out. Like I said, his will be here tomorrow so we will know then.
Patience is a virtue! I'm taking a deep breath and waiting my turn. Can't wait to jump on the DS wagon to stay, hopefully for years to come. |
