When picking parts would it tell me if the power supply was insufficient for the build?

Yes, it will, but it may also allow you to make a selection most of us would consider marginal. Having a decent amount of overhead available is considered a good thing. There are not many builds with less than a 4090 GPU that will not be fine with an 850W PSU.

To be on the safe side, use this tool with the build you want:

If you have at least 150-200W extra, you're good.

The power supply you NEED for that is 750W. The power supply you would want if you might increase the power of your GPU in the future would be an 850W to be sure you could cover the power needs of a more powerful card.

IDK what you mean about "what is in it".
