So my trusty companion of several years has finally bit the dust...and now it is time to have Digital Storm make me something shiny and new.

IMHO....The power supply may be a bit on the small side.
change to the 8800gts 330 mb / or to the 8800gtx 768mb
choose either Windows XP or go with at least Vista home premium.

Kelly, what is so different about Vista Home Basic compared to Vista Home Premium?  Is there anything I really need in Premium, remember I almost have the same rig as you LOL.

premium has a few useless features over basic, the areo desktop and such...

Why do you reccomend the change to either the 320mb or the 768?

The 320MB and 640MB GTS both perform the same at low resolutions.

And the 640MB GTS just does not perform at high resolutions compared to other cards.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

I see.   That makes sense.
 
Does that still hold true if I'm using a widescreen monitor at high resolution?  
 
I ask because the swing in price between the 320mb or a higher card starts to strain the budget.
