So, after looking at some numbers, Digital Storm Online is too expensive At the moment. I am planning to but a computer from DSO by christmas, but right now I just cant afford it.
So ive decided to make a computer with parts off of newegg! BUT ive never dealt with newegg, or built a good computer (Ive built computers before, because I am a student at a technical highschool, and im specializing in IT) So I need some help. What Im Looking For: Either i5 750 or i5 650 (Im not sure whats better for the price.) HD 5770 Radeon The case doesnt matter Motherboard doesnt matter Same with PSU, and expansion slots. I Am not planning on doing CrossfireX anytime in the future. I also need a Monitor, but I think it will be one from Best Buy/Staples. Thanks In Advance! |

Besides the Dual Core vs Quad Core, whats the difference? Any in performance?
And Is a 3.2 ghz dual core faster than a 2.8 quad core? |

The 750 is a quad, but no HT, the 650 is a dual but does have HT. with hyper theading, you won't have as much power as 4 real cores, but it does help out some apps only 5% some 50%.
next thing is 32nm design on the 650.
I guess it really won't matter a lot between them, I suggested the 650 mainly because it overclocks like mad, but if this is something you are not planning on doing, then the 650 does not look nearly as attractive.

it would be an interesting test, both CPU's all stock.. I would guess that for most games, and apps, the 650 would win by a small margin.

So a higher clock is better than more cores with a less clock?
i5 650==2 Cores/3.2 GHZ i5 750==4 Cores/2.66 GHZ So does anyone have an idea on what to build, or have any suggestions? I will post some links to what I think Is good, but i will most likely to be corrected. PS: What socket is the 650? Is it p55 like the 750? |

I found this other ASUS computer on best buy, with more usb ports, upgradable x16 slots, and the rest is basically the same. Its at:
Computers>Desktops>Towers Only> Then Asus - Essentio Desktop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive |

remember that thing like the RAM will not be 1600Mhz, everything will be bottom shelf components, and plenty of bloatware.

some bloatware is harder to remove than others.
you can always drop the component quality/speed down to save some bucks... or just get the pre-built ASUS either way should be fine.

On HP's Site, i designed an i3 550 computer, ATI Radeon 5450 (lolololol), 640gb hard drive (7200rpm) and 4gb of 1333 RAM.
The total is: $649.99 I think that the i3 better suits my needs at the moment better than the i5. |
