Hello im needing some help on deciding which of these great products i want to buy and just a bit of my background and what my computer is now. I own a MacBook Pro early 2011 model and the graphics are bad compared to these graphics cards but my macs graphics are ok in my book i just want to get some big boy pants so to speak. i record gameplay at around 30 fps right now (tf2 being the main of my channel) and some indie games. I think i have be swaying towards the marauder level 4 because it and a monitor are under my budget. The ODE lvl 1 seems great but i feel like i could save more money for what im actually doing and what im planning to play on pc. hope you read this and help me out i have heard nothing but amazing things from people who have bought DS computers and im looking forward to becoming apart of the fanatics. Remember i have no desire to play BF3 Far Cry 3 on max settings in every category, i just want it to play games that are above average to very good when it comes to how demanding it will be to go to almost max in the graphics department.

if there is any more information you need please ask for it and i will be more than happy to supply it. I hope the rest helps as well thank you guys.

Budget:
im a college student so money is tight but i think i can spend around $1500 price of monitor included. and i hope i can get some honest answers out of everyone, my mind is set on DS just need some help

Expectations:
I am looking at the marauder level 4 and the ode level 1. I dont plan to play BF3 maxed out with AA x16 and what not. i just want a good resolution and good fps, I make really horrible youtube videos with gameplay and honestly i just want it to look nice. I have read reviews on the graphics card in the marauder GTX 660 Ti 2GB and the GTX 670 2GB in the ODE level 1 and says there very much alike but there are better graphics with the 670. It seems that both cases have a good enough space in them for some upgrading as well.

So my real questions are as follows. Since the fans are the same (no liquid cooling just fans) is there a difference in cooling and airflow and if so by how much? i think i remember in the marauder video the parts actually ran coller than the ode video's parts did (GPU, CPU) but there a variables that were not mentioned as well. next question would be can i run most games with high res, textures etc basically being the generic video options on close to max with AA and the other Fps killers lowered and can i record while maintaining 45fps+ and which one would really be the best? can i do this on the marauder lvl 4 and be just a fraction behind the ODE lvl 1? because if so then thats a big deal to me. Im not to worried about how it will preform 2 years down the road because i will be sending it back here to hopefully get a better GPU, power supply, hard drive, helping support good businesses for the future i suppose.

Hi Not2BadGamers..... Welcome to the forums.

You didn't mention monitor size or resolution which can make a difference, but I'm guessing a 23" monitor at 1920x1080 or less.   For that the Marauder 4 will give you all you need. Its gtx 660ti card will play most games on high to max , with some heavy shooters needing the settings you mentioned toned down a bit. The case cools thst setup just fine.

The ODE 1 for another $200 gives you a better case with better cooling and probably a little quieter. It has a front and top 200mm fan and larger slower fans are quieter and move lots of air.    The gtx670 and the stage 1 overclocking will give you about 20% + better gaming.

After all that, I think the M4 for a tight budget will work great.   The ODE is worth the extra $$ but I do understand budget issues.

Go M4 and hope this helps. Good luck.

@bprat22 thank you for your reply, and yes the monitor isnt anything fancy. I understand your points and i think i will be happy with the marauder level 4 and thanks for bringing up the cooling as well. another thing however is that i wont be overclocking or any of that good stuff. haha who knows maybe in a few months i might have enough for the ode level 1 after financial aid, in any case thank you for your insight i really appreciate it.

thanks for all the help bprat22, i still need some money to afford one of these machines so i thought to myself i might as well upgrade to a ODE 1, with just a few more questions that you might be able to help me out with. the first question is im new to this as stated before so that means im not sure about overclocking anything but i talked to a girlfriends uncle who built his own rig and said for the extra money this would be a better deal for the now and maybe even a year or so more than the M4. do you think that statement is accurate? secondly, many people say for overclocking you need water cooling and i just dont trust myself or the drunkerds that may or may not show there face here. so would basically would these sock fans that come on the tower be ok, ive also thought about added the noctua nh-d14 fans to the computer and would that be a good idea and can they do that for me as a request with purchase of the fans of course?

I agree the ODE 1 is worth the extra money.    The overclock and better video card will give longer gaming life. You definitely do not need water cooling for overclocking.   If you pushed the overclock to extremes and ran the rig for extended times then, yes. But, not for most.

DS will mount the Noctua D14, I think, for the added cost of the part plus $50 but you don't need it.

I have an ODE case and it cools great.   Plenty of airflow.

As-is, the ODE is real nice gaming.

Hope this helps.

ok nice so you are speaking from experience. so as is the fans are completely fine and thats good news to hear, i know those noctua fans are big so can they actually be installed into this system of future reference. i also have a question about the fan controller on the case, i understand you can change the fan speeds but is there an auto function that comes with it so i dont have to do the work?

The front and top 200mm fans and back 140mm fan are hooked to the front fan control. The fan control does adjust the speed but not as much as some would think.   Not 0-100%. More like 60-100% if I were to guess.   Really no work. The fans work as they should at even low settings with no problem.

The air cooler is hooked to motherboard fan header and doesn't need any tweeking.

ok so basically what your saying is its fine with the stock fans and if i wanted to i could do a light overclocking with these fans in place?

also im wondering if you have any experience with the 660ti and the 670, i have seen comparisons but just wanted to ask incase you could give any information. the 670 would be nice, i bet it can destroy indie games as well as some AAA games, well at least i hope
