Welcome to the forum toshter !
Suggestions for a stronger rendering build.... You picked the best CPU for rendering, as the 8 core/16 thread I9-9900K has the cores and extra threads rendering can utilize. I switched to a better Corsair CPU 240mm sealed no maintenance AIO cooler. I suggested using a better Asus Z390 Strix motherboard, and 32gb of higher quality Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM. Corsair branded components carry longer mfg warranties. You will download Corsairs iCue software to control colors on all the RGB components for a different aesthetic whenever you want. As you seemed to wish one large 2 TB Drive1, I changed to a 5 times faster Samsung Evo 970 2 TB M.2 NVME SSD Drive1. NVME drives are a big advantage you should utilize. It uses the way faster PCIE bus that the video card slots on the motherboard can use. The RTX 2070 is a solid mid range GPU that should be enough to run the Predator Monitor you mentioned, but a RTX 2080 would perform at 1440/144 Hz much better... so you might consider that upgrade if budget has room. Lumos build 1A ($3332). Config # 2441052 All in all this would be a great rendering rig, and if desired it would game very well too! I Edited by HockeyBuck - 24 Jun 2019 at 7:02pm |

thanks for editing my build specs. question though i see you chose not to overclock the video card. Is overclocking it not good?

Forgot to mention that we don’t generally recommend Overclocking video cards on air...more stress than gain to be had for the GPU...
On a fully HydroLux Pro water cooled GPU & CPU build I would say go ahead, but not just on air. You do however have enough cooling to take a CPU Overclock to the full Stage 2, and get everything the processor has to give. Rendering is more about the CPU and RAM than the GPU, so that’s +$99 that rendering can take advantage of. Edited by HockeyBuck - 24 Jun 2019 at 8:19pm |
