First off,  I would just like to say Hi, as I'm new around here..  I am looking to replace my current PC with something that will run Call of Duty 4 with EASE.  I am interested in what the fine folks here would reccomend,  AMD or Intel, etc?  Because of the lack of time I have to build my own PC,  I am planning on buying one from a place such as DigitalStorm.  I just cant make up my mind on what I want/need..

The specs for CoD 4 are as follows:

Required (minimum) Specs

CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.4 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 2800+ processor or any 1.8Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported
RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista)
Hard Drive: 8GB of free space
Video card: NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 6600 or better or ATI(R) Radeon(R) 9800 Pro or better

Recommended Specs

CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core or better
RAM: 1G for XP; 2G for Vista
Hard Drive: 8GB of free space
Video card: 3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better

Any help is much appreciated,  Thanks in advance.

Chris

What's your budget? Do you plan on upgrading yourself in the future?

I like Intel.  I have always been told that its a better product so that is what I have always gone with.  And the one I ordered has Vista in it.  I have XP now, but I figure its time to get modern! And I like Nvidia over ATI as it seems, from what I have heard and read, that Nvidia has better drivers for their products.  And heck, every game I play seems to have the Nvidia ad screen in the pre-opening shots!  So, I stick with them.

This is just my opinion, I am no expert, but I would say if you are going to get a new custom computer.. Go big.  That way you can future proof it and will get more years out of it than if you just go with minimum specs.

With a budget of $1500 your config should be able to run anything. I would go with the Intel CPU since it's a better performer. For OS, it's really a matter of preference but know that Dx10 is supported only in Vista. Since gaming is your main thing, get the best video card you can afford.
