Hello, a DS newbie here. I've used Vigor gaming 2x previously for my gaming PCs. But for this round, I was looking into either DS or FalconNW. Then I found out this great community DS has, so I decided to give DS a try.
I'm not a total noob re: PC, but I am when it comes to liquid cooling. It will be my virgin try~
For now, I'm thinking max lvl Stage 6: Sub-Zero LCS Dual Loop: CPU & Single Video Card & Chipset at $840! But it probably is an overkill, when compared to say Stage 3 at $440.
Any advice re: optimal liquid cooling for my set-up below would be appreciated. Also any other general advice re: my set-up would be awesome!

Ok well thats one way to go, but not the best way to spend your money.

Thank you for the quick reply!
My budge is $3500.
I play at 2560 x 1440 (GTX 580 3GB should cover it I guess).
I don't want SLI if I can avoid it (too hot, too noisy; I have a baby often sleeping in the same room).
I would like to future-proof (I know this is impossible these day ^^) it for about 2.5-3years.

SLi is not hotter than 1 card running. They run about the same temps. You will still have noise coming through the Rad fans...

Yeah, I know the sound will still come through, but I hoped that liquid cooling would keep the graphics card fan noise to minimum.
I currently use 8800GT, and it is usually set at 40% fan speed on the card at boot up. But after I play graphic intensive game for 2 hours or more, I need to turn the card fan up to about 80%, which cools it down few degrees, but noticeably louder. So, I assumed: 1) Two cards would be louder than one card. 2) By attaching liquid cooling unit to the card, maybe I can keep the card fan spd to as low as possible? Lol, a lot of assumptions there on my part. Thanks again for the input!  |

A quiet LC system will be quiet but the LC system used here is not a quiet one.
to have a quiet one you need to customize the rads and fans, if you are interested let me know. no matter how many cards you have, you have chosen to put them in lc, so they will make no noise as they have no fan, in lc they have wb on them, so number of cards will make no difference in your noise in a lc system. Above 1900 x 1200, if you want highest settings and good aa you need sli/cf. a single card is not gonna do so great at 2560 x 1440, higher vram just helps with aa, in short at with no aa settings you will see no difference between the 1.5GB 580 and the 3GB 580. there is no such thing as future proofing, today's cards can't support future requierments, and a single card at that res is gonna come up short in a year or so.
