Hi people,
I have a problem and was hoping someone else here has had the same problem and a fix for it.
This machine I bought here about a year ago, not mine because mine is running like a champ, it's my sons. Anyway, this machine will not install windows Vista 32 or 64 and Win 7 32 and 64 bit. I can use the image disk and windows XP install just fine. I swapped the CD-Rom and Hard drive out and still a no go. His motherboard is the 680i LT.
CPU = Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 not OC'd.
Drives are SATA. I was hoping someone has come across this issue before. The machine by the way runs extremely well. Thanks DS for that. Any help would be much appreciated, I did do and am still doing research on the internet for similar problems and so far none of the solutions seem to work. Thanks in advance.

The BIOS is set to boot from cd/dvd drive first than Hard Drive. Like I said XP and the computers dvd image disk both insatll fine. I can not do an upgrade from in XP because when it comes time for the reboot during installation the computer hangs at the loading windows please wait. If I do a cold install, meaning put the windows 7 disk in drive and turn on the the computer, I hit any key to start the windows installation. The message is: Windows is loading files: after that I get the: windows is loading message and that's where it all stops. Except for windows xp which continues to install and works fine. I have waited up to an hour to get past the windows is loading message with vista and windows 7 and still nothing. |

could be a million things unfortunately did you remove anything from the computer but the bare essentials, printers, ex storage, whatever? did you try deleting the existing data with xp cd and switchin gto the other OS? |

When you boot the Win 7 disk make sure you only have one hard drive hooked up. Do not do a quick install, do the advanced one and make sure you delete the drive completely. When you do, you will have nothing but non formatted empty space. Then tell Win 7 to install to that empty space.
Anyone think this is bad advice, please say so. I am not an expert. This is how I usually install and has worked well for me. |

I have removed nothing from the comp. There is only 1 Western Digital 500gig HD, I also tried a 500gig Seagate and removed the WD 500gig. The WD 500gig is back in again. All external items are removed ie Printer, storage etc etc. I am truly baffled on this one.
