I really am thinking of doing 3 monitors now.  Have a Hp ZR24w.  Can my 680 handle two more monitors safely?  Or should I stick with one monitor?  Or consider getting two more video cards that I have no idea how to install.  Whoa

Surround on the GeForce GTX 680

The GTX 680 allows three Surround monitors to run simultaneously through the GTX 680’s two DVI connectors, single HDMI connector and single DisplayPort connector.

I am in the same boat.  When I was configured my system, I was intending on going with a 3 monitor setup.  The GTX 680 will have no problem running 3 monitors.

In order for using 3 monitors in surround (3 monitors working as one), the monitors have to be exactly the same.  Meaning they all have to have the same sync polarity.  For the average person, this just means getting the EXACT model for all 3 monitors.

Asus has come out with 144Hz monitors which are also 3D ready.  I am not really interested in the 3D currently but the 144Hz is fantastic for FPS.  It will allow you to have vsync turned on and still run the game at 144 frames per second. That is awesome

Having 2 monitors is some what of a problem.  You will always have the bezel of the monitors in your middle field of view. So going with 3 is the best.  Some people that have had the 3 monitor set ups have said that after a while they stop looking at the side monitors and only concentrate on the middle one.  Getting a large monitor that can do 2560x1600 or better was really all anyone needs according to them.

My 30" monitor is 6+ years old and does 2560x1600 at 60Hz.  I have had no problems at all with it.

I am stuck wondering if I really need 3 monitors.  The new monitors would be smaller in size and I don't know if I would like that.

Thanks Jerry.  Looking at the Asus and reading reviews.  I have no interest in 3D.
And now I'm thinking maybe just get one larger monitor instead of 3.  Like a 2560x1600.  Played last week on a friends new 3 monitor setup and it was ok but not ground breaking for me.
