I have already made a configuration, but I'm wondering if this is pretty solid. |

Your config is not great at all.
for that res and games like bf3 we recommend sli 570 which at your budget unfortunately we can't get, so the next best option is ode 1, you add the ssd to it yourself later. or you can go with this, this can do sli 570, so you add teh other 570 and a ssd later in a few months: Here you go Ticket# 603942 --- $1,886 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO (Intel Z68 Chipset) (Features Intel Quick Sync Technology) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 800W Corsair GS (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) (EVGA Edition) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Edited by DST4ME - 09 Oct 2011 at 12:57am |

Well, how big of a difference in pricing is it? I'm looking to grab a pc that's going to bring me into the gaming scene and keep me there for 3-5 years.

price difference between my config and ode 1?
this pc with sli 570 and ssd is gonna keep you on top for gaming at your res for 2 years at least, after that we recommend gpu upgrade to keep the pc feeling new for another 2 years or so. there is nothing you can get now that will game great now at max and in 5 years also. yeah, my statement is kinda redundant haha. the issue is i bought a imac one year ago for general purposes. i got into gaming, and well, i'm not compatible. i dropped $2700 dollars on this machine. i feel dumb for doing so now. don't get me wrong, i've had no major issues, but it's simply not a machine for gaming.
so, essentially your build as is should be decent for gaming for two years, or your build + ssd and sli addition should be good for gaming for two years? keep in mind, i'm just looking to run games like WoW, SWToR, and LoL/Minecraft haha. not a heavy gamer but would love a machine to run everything with ease, and be able to handle frapsing or streaming live game play, and not have fps issues. ps: disregard the pricing difference question. i did some independent research :P Edited by DSfanboy - 09 Oct 2011 at 1:27am |

For games like wow all you need is one 570.
the point is that is you have one 570, should you need more gpu power, you have the option to go sli, however for games like wow and minecraft sli is overkill and not needed, wow does not even utilize sli correctly. so you first should decide if you want the sli ability or not, if not go with ode 1. |

i sure do appreciate you taking time out for a nub like me :P
ode 1 is? as ashamed as i am to ask this, what is sli exactly? as long as i'm able to make upgrades with that chassis, handle simple games and the option for more power if decided for, and most of all, be off of MAC OSX for gaming :P |

Sorry its my fault you have no way of knowing this stuff.
ode is a line of pcs DS builds, they are pre made but their cost is crazy low: click here to see ode 1 sli is when 2 gpus work with each other. ( this gives you more gpu power and higher fps) but games like wow don't use it correctly so they see no gains. ode 1 does not allow you go add a second 570 for sli my config does. |

sli is great as long as you have games that will make use of it, wow and sw will not if I'm not mistaken.
do your homework and see if the games you play will use it correctly, if not then you have no use for sli. |
