Just wondering if I can upgrade my rig's current ram memory. I tried asking some people but they don't really give specific answer. In fact they don't give an answer at all. So maybe turning into this page of the forums would help me
My system specs: -ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. model H110M-E/M.2 motherboard -intel core i5 6500 -8gb ddr4 2133MHz -600W 80 Plus EVGA/Corsair -Storage (1TB Seagate / Toshiba) -SSD (120GB Digital Storm Performance Series) -Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Automatic Overclocking |

This was answered in your other thread. I believe they said you could upgrade your ram to 16gb, just don’t bother get faster ram than standard 2133 speed.
You can go to Crucial.com and use their memory tool that will scan your pc and give you recommendations. That motherboard, I think, only has 2xDIMM slots for ram, meaning you have to replace your 2x4gb ram sticks with2x8gb ram sticks. If it has 4 slots then you can add, just match speeds which Crucial will help with. |

So does that mean I have to get 2x8gb with 2133Mhz? And what about the CAS Latency? Does it matter what CL do I get?

You can get faster ram but it probably won’t do much good as far as being utilized. Just get basic 2x8gb ram and most come with manufacturer specs of 2133 anyways. Faster ram just has the ability to be increased in Bios using XMP profiles set by manufacturer. Don’t worry about latency. It’s performance is tied to speed of ram and at this level, it doesn’t matter much.
Don’t over think it. You can go crazy trying to understand all the speeds and timing. |

Thank you so much. You’ve been very helpful. I thought I have to worry about getting a ram with specifc CL but I guess not :) One more thing though I browsed through amazon regarding the 2x8gb and I came up with two popular brands - should I go for a HyperX FURY Black 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 CL14 PC42133 DIMM XMP Desktop Memory (HX421C14FB2K2/16) or a Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2133MHz (PC4-17000) C13 Memory Kit - Black

Get whatever is cheaper. I like Corsair, only because that's what I've had. And Adata ram is good and used but DS alot. Either work great. In most cases for the average gamer, ram is ram and just stick to a name. |

So it doesn’t really matter which one I pick? Is it just the branding? I might go with the HyperX tho but in your opinion and experience with such brands. How likely would you recommend one over the other and which one?

Memory sticks have been around so long they are easy to make and highly reliable, no matter the brand. bprat said "whichever is cheaper". Once it's in there and working, you'll never think of it again. It's pretty much a coin flip.
