I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from my GTX 670 to a GTX 970 (seems like the best option for me at this point). Not sure if my setup can handle it, or what additional upgrades I would need to make to make this happen.

Thanks!

My setup:

Chassis Model: Corsair Obsidian 550D
Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.50 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
Power Supply: 800W Corsair GS
Video Card(s): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 4GB
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio
Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (High Performance Cooler)
Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans

Hi Chromacoma....   You setup can handle an upgrade to a 970, no problem.  Just unplug the old 670 and plug in the 970.   Your psu probably has a pair of 6+2 PCIe power cables so you can use whatever is needed for the new card, depending which one you have.  6+2 power cable is a 8 pin cable where 2 pins can detach and fold back if 8 pins aren't needed.

Good Luck. Big%20Smile

My pleasure.

Big bump in performance going from a 670 to a 970. Doublle frames in some cases.

I believe your 670 is 2x 6 pin psu connector and most 970s are a 6 pin and a 8 pin. Easy swap.
