Hi,
I am (possibly soon to be) a former Alienware Aurora customer with a 6 year old Aurora AMD 64 FX-57 with NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX still running strong. I have all the accessories, monitor, etc. just need a new reliable & super fast system for HL2/TF2/COD4/L4D, etc. I also use the system for work – low-res Photoshop and Web Development / Dreamweaver. My Needs: Like described above “super fast” gaming/work system. I need reliable / responsive tech support for my system reformats that I tend to do appx. every 6-8 months (unless DS provides restore discs or great user-friendly instructions). The system should be reasonably quiet and I want the system to last as long as my Alienware has or longer (so cooling is probably a huge factor?). I don’t care about high quality sound. I expect the quality of graphics to be cutting-edge smooth. My budget is around $4,300. Please critique this configuration …thanks! Will I be blown away when I see the performance difference between my old Aurora and this configuration below? I hope so : ) Configuration $3,913.00 ----------------- Chassis: Special Deal Hot Seller - Black OPS Assassin Edition Exterior: - Standard Factory Finish Trim: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 SLI 3 Edition (Intel X58 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) (Model: 131-GT-E767) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Certified (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition Highly Recommended) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1 OS: 1x (80GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: X25-M MLC Edition) (Extreme Performance) Hard Drive Set 2 Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 6: Sub-Zero LCS Dual Loop: CPU & Dual SLI/CrossFire Video Cards H20 Tube Color: Blue Tubing with High-Performance Fluid (UV Lighting Reactive) Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Boost Processor: FREE: Stage 1: Overclock the processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz (Cooling Upgrade Recommended) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: FREE: Yes, Disable and tweak all of the non-crucial services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Install/Test Game: FREE: Hot-selling game with a NVIDIA Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 4 Year Limited Warranty |

working atm so can't take the time to advise you on the build, but I'll just let u know that in a couple of weeks or so a new DS modded case with innovative cooling is to be released for people willing to go the xtra buck for ultra-high end performance

decent start but the assassin is not the most liquid cooling friendly case
the power supply is too small, minimum 1200 for this
id reccomend building in special deals and choosing a haf x or 932, and a bigger power supply
also you can read through the guide in my sig for more info, there is a lot there

For the Stage 6 cooling we are now highly suggesting the Hailstorm case as to avoid damage to external radiators due to shipping. So if you are looking to go with Stage 6, we do highly suggest the Hailstorm case.
