Hi,

looking for configuration advise on multiple GPU's
Have the config below with 1200w power supply, but as I will be calculating proteins (BOINC team) which is using GPU, I may use more GPUs (2-3) in a near future. What is the difference between RTX3080 and RTX3090 ? Does the 3090 has something like SLI so they are both connected with some bridge ?
Does it exist for cheaper 3080 ?
The calculations actually do not care of SLI, my current system has 3 different GPU mixed Nvidia cuda and AMD and all 3 were recognized. I only had to use doohickey to pretend the monitor is connected to all of them.
Will the 1200W be enough for 2-3 RTX3080 and the PC itself ?
And what MOBO do you recommend for the future card addition ? 3 or 4 PCIE ?
Thank you

And one more Q. is 3080 or 3090 in stock ?

Hi,
Welcome to DS.

The 3090 is the only one that can be connected with sli (Nvme). The 3080 does not accept the bridge.
The power supply is more than ample IMO but I always go for more. As to mobo, others with more knowledge will reply better. I don't think you can fill all the Pcie slots with 3080s or 3090s since they are too big.
Being a user forum, we have no knowledge of parts availability at DS insofar as to 3080 or 3090 inventory.
Good luck.

thank you. I don't need SLI, it is for CUDA cpus used for BOINC and it works well with any cards having CUDA. SLI not required, but thank you a lot.

If you're running dual 3080 or 3090, highly recommend going with 1600W power supply.
