I wont be ordering a computer just yet ive got in mind what i want roughly but my biggest concern is case choices. I think im gonna splurge for a 570 SLI setup or whatever is comparable when socket 2011 rolls around. Also im a audiophile and want a sound card. The asus STX seems to be a very good choice based on things i've read. I'm curious to hear your guys opinions on any issues i may have running the assisian what that many cards compared to the haf X. The price difference does make me lean towards the haf X of almost 300$ cheaper. Thank you guys for your advice ahead of time im trying to get my build firmed up now so when 2011 comes out i can be on the first to order!

I personally dislike the assassin(FT02)/Raven 2(RV02) cases, the depth is too big, PSU mount has me on edge, and the HDD mounts/fans seems like wasted space. If you want vertical cooling, wait for the uber awesome (in my opinion at least, hehe) Raven 3 to roll around. It'll probably go on BlackOPS, so it'll be cheaper, unless DS starts using it as a flagship model too...which I would immediately think is highly probably if they see the absolutely insane internal LC potential in this thing.

I don't like the assassin personally, I don't like how the media bays get blocked with multip cards and I like more airflow and more room, keep in mind assassin has 3 x 180mm fans, haf has 3 x 200mm fans and room to add one more 200mm fan, I find it easier to work in the haf.
ablah insane LC system would have at least one triple rad for cpu and one triple rad for gpu, if not more, IMO you need more if you want insane, and I doubt that the rv3 holds two triple rads with push/pull setup inside of it. But some of the changes it has are good, still not my cup of tea. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Feb 2011 at 2:10am |

im sorta thinking the same thing dst. i saw some pics of the assisian and stuff does look cramped once u get 2 video cards in there. The way ive got it configured now the price difference is 300$ less for the HAF for the exact same stuff. Unless case choices change by the time 2011 comes out ill prob stick with the haf so i can go sli and not completely blow my budget

Well keep us informed, yoyu already have the 932, so you know how it does, if you are happy with it, I would go with the 942 this time, for more airflow, and I think about an inch more room from the 932

obviously at this point no one really knows anything about 2011 beside its quad channel ram 6 and 8 cores but what i found odd was there were leaks that in May/June they were going to announce ivy bridge which based on what we know is suppose to happen after the SB high end(2011). Im assuming then 2011 is on target for a q3/q4 launch? The only thing im worried about is the price if 1155 doesn't really change much i could see potentially having to spend a ton more money to keep my SLI set up etc to get a 6 or 8 core proc. choices choices sighhh. There also seems to be some rumors of a 1356 replacing 1366 that will use SB chips but lose the quad channel ram. Edited by RiceEatin2000GT - 11 Feb 2011 at 2:14pm |
