I have a new DS PC, working like a champ.  What I'd like to know is how I might control the speed of the case fans.  I have a HAF case with the optional 4 side fans, looks like one fan on top and back as well.  Case and components stay plenty cool, looking to balance temp with noise.

I saw there are a number of utilities on the Rampage II Extreme motherboard CD, is there something in particular there I should use?  Is there a bios setting I'm unaware of to control case fan speeds?

Thanks!

Dan

I would get an aftermarket fan controller.  They can be had for a decent price, and are easy to install.  I have the NZXT Sentry LX, in kinda pricey ($65), controls 5 fans up to 1800 RPM, and displays 5 temperatures as well.  Its big (takes up 2 5.25 bays), flashy, and absolutely awesome.

Lots of good single bay ones out there as well.  You can get just a regular 4-6 fan controller for about $20-$30 on most site like tiger and egg.  Good investment, and you dont have to close out or minumize any thing your doing to use it.  Very handy at game time, you can up fan speeds easily and quickly.

Great information.  I'm liking the idea of the NZXT Sentry LX, family is wanting more Christmas ideas from me (like my new i7 PC wasn't enough, lol).

Is there much to wiring this up after mounting in the drive bays?  How does the controller connect to the mb, or does it at all?  Also, i see the 4w per channel limitation, is that a problem with the fan/case mod I have?

Its great, but lots of wires, but they are like 20 inches long so can reach anywhere.

Will have to be a little creative as for hiding them.  5 wires for fan connections, and 5 temp probes.   They are all labeled 1-5 so its easy to remember to know where they are going.  Only 1-3 degrees off at most, and thats not that bad, just make sure you place them properly.  Can be a bit difficult to get them on a good spot, specially the GPU for a correct reading.

I love mine, and would rec. to anyone.

Only real drawback, is that its battery powered, so every 6 months you will be having to install a new battery.  Another con, is from all the reviews, plus my own experience, the shipped battery is mostly dead on arrival, so purchase a new one as soon as you get it..lol
