So my parts finally got here, I ordered

swapped in a
and clipped on my
First I had to blow out some dust... the main disadvantage to the 450i/Raidmax case open air design. Once a month does the trick though, well worth it for the temperatues. First was the Dominator fans, The design of the fan bracket itself is solid

The airflow seems quite good, especially considering the size of the fans (40mm), the only real problem with them is that the brackets are made to fit around the thumbtabs at the base of the ram and the fit is weak at best, they rely soley on the verticle fit, meaning a decent jolt to the case would likely pop them right off. There should definately be some rubber feet or something along the lines to increase the friction... but I guess if you arent moving the computer around much then it wont matter.

Next was the Kama Bay mount. I must say there have been few things (short of plugging in a clock radio) that were easier to install. The directions were all in japanese... which obviously didn't help, so its a good thing i didnt need them!

It is designed to work in tool-less cases, and I've read that some people had problems with the fit. Luckily, my fit like it was made for the case, no finagling at all. I did take out the plastic webbed filter and cut a peice off to place under the fan so the mount wasnt resting directly on the 5.25x5 cage, to reduce noise.

Speaking of noise, both of these products are shockingly quiet. The bay mount isnt more than a foot away from my knee and I can't even hear a difference from the case. It really moves air too, it very easily holds a sheet of paper, I'm sure it would do much more.
Ok, I know, shut up and show the results already!
Idle temps: (the "before" is before i removed the covers for the 5.25 slots)
Hardware     Before      After
Q6600           35-38        28-33
88GTS512     65-68        58-61

Peak load under PCMark before: 69  (66 avg)
Peak load under PCMark after:   60!!!!!  (57 avg)

Peak load under Everest before: 71
Peak load under Everest after:  66

You can see in the 3rd pic the logic behind the dramatic drop, there is a straight shot from front to back with one 120mm pointing into the next forcing a large air capacity through the CPU heatsink.

Side note, I would highly reccomend the kama mount, especially to anyone using a 450/raidmax case like this one, very much worth the cost!

Now the pictures!

Very nice !ender. Your results closer match my own with this type of front modification. It might be wothwhile to post the temps of your hottest core in addition to your CPU reading so people have something more to directly compare. I am also interested in load temps, as this is what really counts. Wink

Keep us posted on your results.Big%20smile

I would recommend a similar mod to anyone with a 750 case. The increase in intake is a welcome shift in any case where you suspect the components are airflow starved.

mem cooling its more preventative than tangible, its safer to push ram harder with more direct cooling

yea the safest way is to use a vaccum, one made for computers or an attachment to your normal one,
i just take my case outside, remove both side panels, and blow every bit of it out, best to do when theres something of a breeze to catch all your fuzziesSmile

So what's next !ender? Are you going to stick with that AC7 or move up to something more serious?

ive acually been debating that tonight, im currently hitting
fsb 395
ram 1054 5-5-5-15
1.5
2.2
1.3

and getting these results

im so close to getting by at 400 fsb but i crash on any of the last 3 pcmark tests.. so ive been debating going higher on voltage or what...

id only consider a stronger cpu heatsink if i can get stable at 400 or over it, since the temps arent even in a risky range

while pc mark shows an increase, everest results seem to be more of a sidegrade than an upgrade
