Hey guys, I was reading reviews on the cases offered here and wanted to get an opinion from people who used the cases over a long period of time. Three cases I was comparing was the P-80B, HAF 932 and the DS Hailstorm.

What are the pros and cons of these cases? Are they good with air cooled setups? Are they noisy or help to suppress noise?

The reason I ask is that the reviews for the HAF and P80 are not consistant (some complain about noise, while others say there isn't much noise). Also, I couldn't find much about the DS Hailstorm. I'm trying to get as much information on each piece of hardware before I order my next computer from DS.

hailstorm is corsair Obsidian 800D

they are all quiet but if you get upgraded fans they will be loud, haf has the best airflow, the other 2 are great also.

worrying about case noise and etc is pointless as 90% of your noise will come from the gpu's fans. other then those, the case are fairly quiet.

if you are going air on gpu, IMO haf is best choice, for LC on cpu/gpu hailstorm, if you need the 4x classified mobo with 10 expansion slots then lian is the one for you.

I heard a few people complain about the HAF 932s tool-less feature (no screws in certain areas, plastic holders/clamps instead) doesn't hold very well. Have you had any trouble with that?

I have a HAF 932, not from DS though, and I did not have any problems with it.

I do prefer to have screws though since they feel more secure, but the tool less work fine.

If you're worried about that and don't mind a slightly smaller tower go with a 922, it's one of the reasons I like it better.

Well, I won't be transporting the case or moving it a lot. I just don't want a drive to come off if I accidentally bump it or something. I had a bad experience with an old case that didn't use screws. When I gave it a little nudge to move it the HD drive fell out of its cage and it was pretty much done for.

That was a long time ago with a low quality case from Sony, though.

If you want an alternative screw-less design, I know the Raven RV01 (NOT the Raven 2) has one. It's a bit buggy sometimes, because the design sorta sucks, but I've made due with some quick-fixes for them. 90 degree mobo flip comes as a plus, somewhat better ventilation. HAF's look better for ventilation to me though, the Raven just has the ability to blow air directly around any expansion cards instead of just blowing at it.

(Note this case is HUGE though, compared to some other towers, it's about 2~4 inches bigger than the HAF 932 on all dimensions. Looks pretty darn cool though)

I'm very happy with the HAF 932 big, and roomy. Like DST4ME said, the case fans are quite and the only the GPU fans are whats loud. Also I never had any temp problem.

The only thing i wish it had was a bigger window on the side.

Heres a questions,

What are the advantages of those Mountain Mod cases or similar cases for the average computer guy?

not really much, more customizable, and more future proof, say you bought a mountain mods case 5 years ago, and today you want to put the new dual CPU EVGA monster motherboard, and fill it up with graphics cards, well you can, you can't with any other case. so ten years from now, no matter what motherboard, power supply, ect comes out, you will be able to use them. that is about it, can adapt to water, air, cascade ect cooling very easily. Also if you want to put a 3 power supply moster, or have two motherboard server, or need to hold 60 hard drives.. lol it can do it. but I gues that would not be the average user..
