I've been running figures and reading reviews about the component for a system here I am considering. But there are still some lingering questions.
Is there a spec page on the case other than the simple picture gallery links? I'm looking at the 950si, but I want to know how many drive bays it has, both internal and external, for 5.5" drives and 3.5" drives. If I get the SSD for Drive C, what form factor does it have as far as what bay it will reside in? Are there front mounted USB and Firewire ports? How about a headphone and microphone jack? Any wheel kit available for the box? I would also like to be able to compare spec for spec with the HAF box, but I just don't have anything to go by. As for the GPU, I really only want a single card, but want the top dog as of today. So which one would that be? ATI of nVidia? And if I should decide to upgrade to a second card, will that be a problem with a later version card perhaps not being compatible with the older one in my system? Oh yeah, any word on that new EVGA motherboard? I really want to get a new computer REAL soon, since I don't have any faith in my getting back my Velocity Micro box and trusting it beyond just running pretty screen savers for at least a month after getting it back from repair. But if the new motherboard is worth waiting for, it would be foolish for me to NOT do so at this late date..... So, the questions are, (1) is this mb a significant enough advance to wait for, and (2) how long before it hits the market and DS gets them in and makes certain that they will work in their systems without any issues for their customers? Ow heck, why not another question while I am thinking about it.... I am undecided about what device to use for my Drive C. I like the idea of the Intel SSD, but it is kind of pricey. Quite likely this time next year the price will be substantially less. I might want the twin WD Velociraptor 300s in RAID 0, but I would also like to have Drive D as the twins as well for my data drive handling video streams. Are there any negative issues with having multiple raided drives on the same MB? In other words, my scenario might be Drive C = 2 Velociraptors RAID 0 (operating system and program files)
Drive D = 2 Velociraptors RAID 0 (data)
Drive E = 1 1TB WD 7200 drive (internal backup)
There, that will keep you guys busy for a bit... :) Thanks. |

The top dog GPU card of the day is the Nvidia GTX 295 which is a dual GPU card that was just introduced at CES in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. Available now and will be in my new computer which should be shipping shortly.

What about driver stability? I've had issues in the past with nVidia's drivers. Matter of fact, this old computer I'm using right now had so many issues with the nVidia card I got with it that I switched over to ATI and all the problems then vanished.
Yeah, I know there is sometimes a tradeoff between performance and stability, but I would like to strike a happy medium with my choice... Thanks. |

I'm sure one of their 3 versions of drivers out now for the 295 will be stable for you, if not all 3. they are working on the 4th one now.
