Hey guys!

So I have this Dell Dimension E310/3100. After looking inside and what not I have decided that I might switch the case. Some problems that I am seeing with this idea is that: The mobo is a left hand side on my current case, while most cases are right handed. Another thing is can you actually switch a factory computer such as dell to a case fresh out of the box brand new?

Please respond asap!!

you will have a problem with teh psu, I could be wrong but dell uses their own psu that is not the industry standard, the mobo might be a problem, your cpu cooling will not work on a new case if I'm not mistaken.

truth be told, its pointless to move to a new case, why not buy a cpu/mobo/ram/case and have a new pc, IMHO to move that dell to a new case is a waste of your money.

Having provided "IT services" for a bunch of family that have Dell's I can tell you that them dirty bastards often use proprietary parts and connectors.  Meaning you might be getting into a whole hell of a lot hassle trying to accomplish this move.

Yeeesss...Dell and their annoying proprietary parts. There's been a couple of horror stories around where people blew up their motherboard connecting a standard ATX PSU to it.

Like DST said get a new pc. I had dells... 2 of them and i replaced the psu on both of them and my mobo literally exploded.. They might be factory made but here you get to choose what you really want.

I have upgraded mobo and psu on couple of my dells but I would not recommend it, not worth the time/money.
