The Aventum is our own in-house design. It's designed fully by our team and is not using a pre-existing chassis with a simple exterior shell design.

Hi bippo5,
I think you are mistaken. The Mach V is an entirely different case than the Aventum. It is smaller and has an inferior cooling system. In fact DS sells several cases that cool better than the March V. The Cooler that this system uses is 120mm, maybe 140mm? and the warm exhaust air goes into the Mobo compartment. Technically, a poor design. If you are thinking about the other system you should let us help you build a DS system. If you are building your own system we can help you with that too. Frank |

Personally I would buy the caselabs sth10 over the aventum any day, the whole case is designed with the user in mind, all panels snap off no screws to loosen, the whole mobo compartment slides out so it is a breeze to swap hardware make changes. Plus if you want the ultimate in cooling you can not get better then the sth10. With room for 2x 560 rads and 2x 480 rads this is just in the top and bottom lol if you wanted you could fit another on top of mobo/middle compartment. Haha besides it is less of a premium then the aventum, id take a functional good looking case designed by enthusiests like us then a case that personally bares so much resemblance to other cases out there.

While I know the sth10 has some cool additions for larger radiators, the Aventum features a lot of other features that the sth10 does not. Including the exhaust chamber design, Aventum control board for monitoring/adjusting airflow for thermal zones, LED lighting control, software control for LED and fans, etc...

Hi tju76,
The case you are recommending is a good case for someone who wants to build their own computer. It would not be a good choice for DS to use as they would have to spend 2 or 3 hours assembling it. If you add in the shipping cost then you are adding 1/3 more to the case cost. It would only be worth it with an ultimate build. There is no doubt that case is very flexible but all those radiator mounting options can't be used at one time. That is, if you want to draw your cooling air from the outside. It is great to have a 560 rad but why when a 360 will do just as good. The Aventum has a great setup for its rads plus the other control features. If there is any negative to the Aventum, it is the cost, not the design. We should remember that this is a DS forum. Frank Edited by FrankW - 25 Sep 2012 at 2:11pm |

FrankW you mentioned the negative aspect of the Aventum as being the cost. I disagree. When you factor in all its positive aspects it out weighs the negative. The ultimate is never cheap. Not everybody can afford to buy a Porsche or Lambo. Its for the person who wants all the bells and whistles and money is no object. That old saying if you have to ask for the price , you cant afford it. Cutting edge technology is never cheap. You pay for what you get.

Actually Frank the case can use all of those radiators at once and still have room in the chamber with the 480's for dual psu, all I'm saying is if you want an ultimate case with the most flexibility go with caselabs, I just don't buy into the "control features" that are unique on the aventum its not hard to install fan monitoring and tempature probes, I mean the aquatune bay device does it all, can't remember the exact product name. But I do agree with the negative aspect of the price, |

The Case Labs sth10 has so many different options that can be ordered with the case that I agree with Frank. This is an excellent case for someone who wants to build their own high end rig. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants to have DS build their rig. You would literally have to plan out every detail and location of all the hardware with DS before they even ordered the case.
Here is a video review of the sth10 if anyone is interested in this case. |
